Jorge Martin’s Aprilia contract has been one of the biggest storylines of the 2025 MotoGP season so far.
The reigning champion has suffered multiple injuries and has not been able to cross the line in a race in the current campaign.
Aprilia had such high hopes for his arrival, but everything derailed just laps into his debut at the Sepang test in pre-season. He broke his wrist, and it caused damage which still hasn’t completely healed today.
There’s a chance that Martin gets a chance to return to action at the final race before the summer break in Brno, which could be an important factor in deciding his future.
Aprilia have made one ‘exorbitant’ demand to Martin by asking for a big penalty to release him from his contract early.
After weeks of debate, Aprilia are risking an even bigger fallout with Martin by refusing to sit down and discuss a compensation figure with him. They’re not in the mood to deal yet.

Carlo Pernat says Jorge Martin could ‘immediately’ decide to stay at Aprilia
Martin’s camp is discussing drastic Aprilia action and seem to be prepared to do almost anything to get free from their current deal.
His teammate Marco Bezzecchi just finished on the podium twice in one weekend at the Dutch Grand Prix, as Aprilia’s bike continues to show good progress.
And it’s the improved state of the bike that MotoGP agent Carlo Pernat believes could make the Spaniard change his mind when he gets back onto it.
“If by chance he gets back on the bike in Brno, and maybe he immediately feels good and finds the life as a rider that he misses, it’s likely that he’ll put everything behind him and accept that embrace that Aprilia is continuing to offer him despite everything,” he told Mowmag.
“If that’s not the case, it’s more than likely that he’ll have to ‘compensate’ Aprilia in some way. But we’ll see, because in my opinion nothing has really been said yet. And then do you know what I think? The ‘Martin case’ won’t be the one to make the market.”

Why Jorge Martin should have a successful end to the 2025 MotoGP season
It’s no secret that Martin is a great talent, especially after winning the MotoGP title on a satellite Pramac bike last year, ahead of Francesco Bagnaia, who won 11 races on a factory Ducati.
Although he’s 26th and bottom of the riders’ standings for the year currently, he’s going to have a chance to correct that soon.
Aprilia have managed to lift themselves back up to second in the constructors’ championship, and that’s while having test rider Lorenzo Savadori on their bike, who hasn’t been able to score many points.
When Martin returns, they should be able to consolidate that position and become Ducati’s closest competitors.
It seems that they do have the second fastest bike on average, and that on high-speed circuits, they can compete for victories too.
