Francesco Bagnaia’s struggles have continued in 2025, despite Ducati’s best efforts to improve his situation.
The jump from the GP24 to the GP25 is proving difficult for the Italian. He has been complaining all season about a lack of feeling, particularly from the front of the bike, while his teammate Marc Marquez has dominated the field.
Bagnaia has offered little competition to the Spaniard or even the GP24 riders. The 28-year-old has struggled over one lap and in Sprint races as he struggles to make up ground.
With just one win all year thus far, Bagnaia and Ducati have been working tirelessly behind the scenes to find improvements to the bike. They thought they had made a breakthrough at Aragon, as Bagnaia’s new front brake discs improved his feeling.
Optimism was high heading into Mugello, a track where the Italian had won the last five races, including Sprints. However, it did little to improve his competitiveness as he fell behind Fabio Di Giannantonio and finished P4.

Davide Tardozzi reveals that Luigi Dall’Igna has been saying Ducati owe something to Francesco Bagnaia
Bagnaia is now 110 points behind Marquez heading into the Dutch Grand Prix this weekend. Ducati chiefs Luigi Dall’Igna and Davide Tardozzi will be desperate to see the Italian’s results pick up.
Dall’Igna has been critical of Bagnaia this season, stating that he has been falling short of expectations in 2025. However, Ducati are not giving up on their star rider, given the incredible success he has brought the manufacturer with two world titles.
Speaking via the BENZINE // Cosimo Curatola YouTube channel, Tardozzi revealed that Dall’Igna has been telling Ducati that they owe something to Bagnaia in meetings.
“It is not simple because in total, in nine races, we have tried everything and more. Then unfortunately, at the moment, we have not yet found the clue to the tangle.
“But as far as Gigi, he believes in Pecco because I heard Gigi say it in an engineers meeting. Pecco, who helped us get to where we are today, so we owe him something.
“He’s about to look, they just finished a meeting half an hour ago with Pecco, where we looked at everything and more. Let’s see what it will be for tomorrow.”

Ducati are committed to helping Francesco Bagnaia amid Marc Marquez dominance
Ducati are fully aware that their two-time MotoGP champion needs help. CEO Claudio Domenicali says Bagnaia ‘needs more support’ as he falls further away from the title picture.
Tardozzi says Ducati are ‘fully focused’ on helping Bagnaia as Marquez dominates the championship. They do not want to see the 28-year-old fall so far behind and are working hard on improving his GP25.
But it is clear that his results need to pick up. Neil Hodgson suspects Ducati held ‘serious conversations’ with Bagnaia after he was beaten by Di Giannantonio in Mugello.
Bagnaia is feeling guilty towards his Ducati engineers as he sees them giving it their all to help his situation. He knows that he needs to step up his game, with Assen being another strong track for him to improve his woes.
