Alex Marquez admits he doesn’t ‘care’ about one controversial move he made for Ducati at the Italian Grand Prix

Alex Marquez has made a healthy habit of finishing behind brother Marc Marquez at most MotoGP events this season.

To some, that would be considered losing. Those at Ducati are aware that his form has picked up impressively, and it’s a promising sign for the future.

Being the first rider behind Marc is a good thing for the younger Marquez, as it demonstrates his progress. It’s his first season consistently contending at the front, and he came into the year not even considered a contender for podiums.

By forcing a mistake here or there, he’s still in with a shot at the MotoGP title, despite multiple flashes of dominance from Marc.

Marquez was booed by fans at the Italian Grand Prix, which shows how little some appreciate his special feats on a bike this year.

In fact, Marquez even called Alex ‘essential’ to his training, which shows how close the bond between the two is. They’re tighter than they have ever been.

Alex Marquez doesn’t ‘care’ about one move he made at the Italian Grand Prix

Marquez may regret one piece of advice at Honda after telling Marc to join Ducati following a tough few years. He may have been the runaway winner this season.

Even after being at the front for a while, Marquez does not know ‘why’ people still say one thing about his title chances in 2025.

In qualifying for the Italian Grand Prix, he gave his brother a tow, but it’s something that has happened at many other tracks too, with his rivals benefiting. He told the Spanish edition of Motorsport.com why it happens.

“I’ve said it a thousand times, that I know I can do it up front and I don’t care who’s behind me. Starting to play around with whether I cut now or shoot now distracts me more than it helps me,” he said.

“I prefer to do my lap up front alone and have them catch me on the wheel, than to be aware of who’s coming behind, that can confuse me and lead me to make a mistake. I know that by doing my job well, whether they catch me on the wheel or not, I can be up front. So I just concentrate on myself.”

What Marc Marquez’s mother has told him to ‘let’ happen in 2025

Roser Alenta is in the rare position of being the mother of two elite sportsmen at the top of their game. A title fight like this may never be repeated again.

The closest motorsport has got to this at the highest level over the last 25 years would have to be the Schumacher brothers, and they didn’t even have a title fight.

Marquez has been told to ‘let’ Alex win the title because he has already won so many before, and his mother wants them both to be happy.

However, Alex insists he would be equally happy to see his brother lift the crown. They have worked so hard together for it.

Marc himself has made a heroic comeback from a devastating injury. Winning another title after that should be lauded.
