Guenther Steiner has already explained how he’ll copy Luigi Dall’Igna if he takes over Tech3 MotoGP team

Tech3 sit eighth out of 11 MotoGP teams in 2025 and have been buoyed by the performance of one rider but disappointed by another.

After being far off the pace, Tech3 sent Enea Bastianini a blunt warning about his speed. They felt as if they had done everything for him that they could.

On the other hand, KTM are ‘super happy’ with Maverick Vinales and his exploits for the satellite team in 2025, having challenged for the top 10 at most races.

Tech3 nearly managed to win the Grand Prix of Qatar out of nowhere and proved to their Austrian supplier that their bike is capable of competing at the front of the field.

Even Davide Tardozzi hailed the ‘talented’ Vinales. There is plenty of potential to be realised in the team, but amid uncertainty over KTM’s MotoGP future, it’s unknown how much longer they will run their bikes for.

Guenther Steiner explained how he’ll copy Luigi Dall’Igna if he completes Tech3 takeover

Ducati have an interesting managerial setup which works for them and has led them to domination over the last few years.

Luigi Dall’Igna is the team’s general manager, while Davide Tardozzi is the team’s manager. Dall’Igna focuses more on the strategic and mechanical elements of the team, while Tardozzi is involved more with day-to-day operations.

Ahead of a possible Tech3 takeover, Guenther Steiner has refused to shut down team principal suggestions, but he could copy Ducati’s model, seeing as it’s a winning formula.

“I don’t yet know my position, but I cannot stay silent,” Steiner told The Athletic. “You know me, I cannot be silent! I cannot be completely silent, but maybe I wouldn’t do the day-to-day work. Maybe I would be more strategic, like a CEO or something like this.

“But I’ve got too many things going on in my life to do this as 100 percent. So, I will put a lot of effort in because I like it. I cannot, if I’m invested in something, just take the back seat.

“I always have opinions and I think there is also my value — I see a lot of things, I’ve done a lot of things. I’m very old now, by the way, so don’t forget that. When you get older, you’ve got experience and need to try to use it.”

What will Tech3 do with their MotoGP riders if the team is sold?

Bastianini has his eyes on Jorge Martin’s Aprilia seat but is under contract until the end of the 2026 season.

It means that the Italian manufacturer would have to buy him out of his contract to acquire his services, which could cost a pretty penny.

Otherwise, his team may opt to keep hold of him. Vinales, too is under contract until 2026, so he should stick around in the future.

Steiner may come in and decide that he wants immediate change, which could see some alterations, but they would come at a cost for him.
