Pedro Acosta’s future with KTM in MotoGP is uncertain. The Spaniard has been linked with a move away from the Austrian outfit throughout 2025.
It has been a frustrating season thus far for Acosta since moving up from Tech3 to the factory KTM team. The RC16 is lacking performance, with a chatter issue plaguing the riders.
Acosta is still KTM’s top rider in 2025 as he sits ninth in the standings. Consistent points finishes in recent races have been encouraging, but the 21-year-old has made it no secret that he is discontent on the bike.
He has been the most vocal out of the KTM riders about the issues with the RC16 and the team itself. Acosta says KTM most solve qualifying issues if they want to be competitive.
The Spaniard has been getting so frustrated with the team’s situation that Acosta did not seem to care that he was crashing at the start of the season. His anger towards KTM has prompted speculation about his future with the manufacturer.

Pedro Acosta ‘will not dare’ speak publicly about a possible future away from KTM
Despite having a factory contract until 2026, the 21-year-old has been linked with a move away from KTM at the end of the year. Acosta has the same manager, Albert Valera, as Jorge Martin who is looking for a way out of Aprilia through an exit clause in his contract.
KTM ‘restricted’ Acosta’s contract from having the same exit clause, fearing a similar situation they had with Martin during his Moto2 days. But that has not stopped rumours from swirling about a possible exit, with Honda and VR46 interested in his signature.
VR46 have a cheque in hand to sign Acosta, with the Spaniard said to favour a move to Ducati over Honda. But despite the rumours and with how despondent he has been with KTM this season, he has continued to show his commitment to his contract.
Acosta tapped the KTM logo when he was asked about his future at the Spanish GP. He has never publicly stated his intentions to leave the manufacturer, nor does he plan on doing so.
A report from The Race states that Acosta ‘will not dare speak publicly about the idea of a future elsewhere,’ reaffirming his belief in the project at the British GP at Silverstone.

MotoGP fans aren’t buying Pedro Acosta’s claim that he still believes in KTM
Ahead of the eighth round of the 2025 MotoGP season at Aragon, Acosta insisted that he still believes in KTM. But with his public outbursts about the bike, fans were not buying the claim as they took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their beliefs about where the Spaniard’s future lies.
“Is this another way of saying Honda don’t have a seat for me next season and I’ll wait until 27?” wondered one fan.
One user thought about the Ducati links as they said: “What if Gigi knocked on your door with a factory contract?” Another fan replied: “He’s got something else in the bag, he’s talking about the bike in public like he doesn’t give a s—.”
Other fans pointed towards Acosta’s ties to Martin through Valera, thinking the Aprilia rider’s movements in the rider market have influenced him. “His contract is not as detailed as Jorge’s? Pedro WILL be Ducati or Aprilia bound next season,” said one fan, while another wrote: “Thanks to Martin.”
