Fermin Aldeguer has been inspired by what he’s seen Alex Marquez do behind the scenes at Gresini this year

Gresini’s performance has taken another leap forward during the 2025 MotoGP season with Ducati’s GP24 bike.

Alex Marquez in particular, has been at home on the machine, including claiming his first victory at the Grand Prix of Spain on home turf.

Despite having a rookie on the team, Gresini have found a way to achieve a podium in five of the opening six races this year.

Fermin Aldeguer almost couldn’t have picked a better time to graduate to the premier class. He has an opportunity to compete at every event.

Marquez was ‘most angry’ at the French Grand Prix after crashing twice en route to his first retirement of the season. There were a lot of points left on the table in the MotoGP title battle.

On the other hand, Aldeguer witnessed something ‘scary’ before securing his first ever podium at Le Mans with third. He’s steadily improving.

Fermin Aldeguer has been inspired by Alex Marquez’s approach to MotoGP at Gresini

With a best finish of 13th after three races, Aldeguer’s MotoGP career didn’t start on the best note. Since then, he has scored a fifth and a third to move up to eighth in the riders’ championship.

Now that he’s gaining some confidence, Aldeguer hit out at ‘noise’, which he felt was unfair following his early struggles.

Now, he has admitted to learning as much as he can from his teammate, who has a lot more experience in the premier class than he does.

“You see it. How he works when he talks about things, how he pays attention,” he said. “It shows, right? That experience he already has in MotoGP, that he’s been there for a few years. he knows the tyres, he knows the other riders, he knows the bikes.

“So there are things that from the rookie side, you don’t see or you don’t want to see. When you have a teammate with the charisma that he has or with the personality that Alex has, who likes to have everything under control.

“He’s a hard worker, then he kind of helps you. You pay attention and you do a bit of the same and it helps.”

Why Alex Marquez needs to start worrying about Fermin Aldeguer at Gresini

It’s obvious that with his current rate of improvement, Aldeguer will be in a position to score multiple more podiums this year.

There are still 16 more Grands Prix to go and he will be hoping that Ducati offers further developments to his GP24.

His current deal expires at the end of 2026, so he has some solid long-term security. Aldeguer has admitted he could be ‘scared’ riding a MotoGP bike at Mugello later in the season.

But the more his confidence grows, the better he will be. Now that he is able to match Marquez at times, he could start to be a real threat, or he could back him up in the championship fight.

If the first option unfolds, then it could derail any small chance of a maiden title for the younger Marquez brother in 2025.
