Ducati CEO makes bold prediction about ‘extraordinary’ Jorge Martin before Qatar Grand Prix return

Jorge Martin is finally ready to make his MotoGP return at the Grand Prix of Qatar this weekend after over two months on the sidelines.

The Spaniard fell victim to a mega highside during his Aprilia debut at pre-season testing, fracturing bones in his right hand and left foot.

While fighting hard to make an earlier comeback at the season-opener in Thailand, Martin suffered a setback which impacted his scaphoid (a bone which takes a long time to heal).

Subsequently, he has missed the opening three races of the MotoGP season and returns just in time for the Grand Prix of Qatar.

New teammate Marco Bezzecchi made a brutally honest comment about Martin and admitted that he wouldn’t go to dinner with him. They clashed in their junior racing days.

Randy Mamola suspects Martin has learned from a Marc Marquez error after the six-time champion nearly ruined his career in 2020. At 27 years old, the 2024 title winner has plenty left to give.

Claudio Domenicali predicts Jorge Martin will be ‘able to win’ MotoGP races in 2025

While he is obviously not going to be at 100% fitness, Martin said something alarming about his injuries after admitting how his rib feels is going to be a mystery in Qatar.

Despite all the questions about his health and performance, Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali has backed the reigning champion to win multiple races in 2025.

“In my opinion, Jorge will be able to win races and many this year because in addition to being the world champion, he is one of the strongest riders on the grid and can boast an extraordinary determination,” he told GPOne.

“Certainly, however, skipping all the winter tests in addition to the GP’s is a weighty handicap, not to mention the difficulties related to the aftermath of two close crashes that are not easy to deal with on bikes as physically stressful as the current ones.”

By admitting Martin, the Ducati boss is admitting that his bikes will be beaten at some stage. They have won six of the opening six races so far this campaign.

How Jorge Martin’s Aprilia surprise was ruined at the Grand Prix of Americas

The third round of the season, held at the incredible Circuit of the Americas track in Texas was an event which came too soon for Martin.

A layout with huge physical demands requires riders to be at the top of their game mentally and physically.

However, Martin’s Aprilia appearance didn’t go to plan after his attempt to surprise the team in a bid to motivate them was foiled before he arrived.

It was still a lovely touch for him to be in the garage with his new colleagues and it may help him when it’s time to make his official debut in Qatar. He will know them slightly better now.
