Pedro Acosta is ready to turn a new page in his 2025 MotoGP season after starting the campaign with two retirements from three races.
Rumours surrounding the Spaniard’s future continue to ramp up as his KTM team struggle to perform on the track.
Acosta had already secured two podiums by this stage in his rookie season with the supposedly inferior Tech3 satellite team.
The Austrian outfit have 19 more races to prove to him that they can improve and are on a positive trajectory ahead of the 2026 MotoGP season.
‘Paddock sources’ say Acosta could leave KTM if potential suitors are prepared to buy his contract out, which is set to expire at the end of next year.
Francesco Guidotti thinks Acosta is ‘already’ positioned to leave after struggling at the Grand Prix of the Americas. His patience is already thinning.

Pedro Acosta believes he overtakes better than ‘everyone’ in MotoGP despite KTM struggles
MotoGP’s next race is the Grand Prix of Qatar – somewhere the 20-year-old Acosta has not raced at since his debut in the sport last season.
He raced to ninth and managed eighth in the sprint. It was a solid return and an indication of great things to come.
Speaking to the Paddock Pass Podcast, he revealed that he believes he hugs the corners tighter than any rider and overtakes without losing any time.
“Maybe don’t really change at all because if you still watch my overtakes and all these things, I [have] still been more tied to the corners than everyone.
“I don’t really lose time at all to even how risky that manoeuvre [is]. Let’s say for this I don’t really change. I mean a bike is a bike with two wheels and an engine.”

Would Pedro Acosta moving to Honda be a wise move for 2026?
There may be only one team that could afford to buy Acosta out of his current contract with KTM ahead of the 2026 season.
Honda’s operation has improved substantially over the winter and they appear to have at least the third-fastest bike currently.
Luca Marini’s contract expires at the end of the current campaign, and that would make for the perfect opening at the factory team.
However, the excellent and experienced Johann Zarco, who would be much cheaper, could also be an option for at least one year until the new regulations in 2027.
Whether or not the Japanese manufacturer is willing to risk not signing Acosta before them, is up to their long-term visions and whether they think he is a worthwhile investment for the time being.
