Marc Marquez is once again the overwhelming favourite to take victory with Ducati heading into round three of the 2025 MotoGP season.
The Spaniard has dominated the championship so far with two pole positions, two Sprint wins and two Grand Prix victories from the first two events. Marquez has been mostly unchallenged as he leads his brother Alex Marquez by 16 points.

Buriram and Termas de Rio Hondo are two circuits that suit the 32-year-old’s riding style – which he proved with his dominance at each event. But round three on the MotoGP calendar is by far one of his strongest.
The Grand Prix of the Americas in Austin has been a great hunting ground for the Ducati rider. Marquez is the most successful rider at COTA, with seven wins with Honda between 2013 and 2021.
Alex Rins and Maverick Vinales are the only other riders to win the Americas Grand Prix. The latter was the only non-Ducati winner for Aprilia in 2024 in Austin.
After a perfect start to 2025, Marquez and Ducait will want to keep that going this weekend. They have every reason to with a 56-year record waiting to be equalled.

Marc Marquez and Ducati can equal Giacomo Agostini’s record of 20 wins in a row in Austin
Ducati have dominated the premier class over the last few seasons, winning the last five constructors’ titles. After Vinales’ win in Austin in 2024, the manufacturer have won every race.
The 19-race win streak is the third longest in MotoGP history. Ducati are just one victory behind Giacomo Agostini’s feat with MV Agusta in the 1960s.
MotoGP’s greatest ever rider won 20 races on the spin between 1968 and 1969. Marquez could match that feat with Ducati by winning his eighth race in Austin – something he will be fully expected to do.
A win this weekend would put Ducati just two wins away from equalling the all-time record set by Marquez’s old team Honda. The Japanese manufacturer won 22 consecutive races between 1997 and 1998.

What other records could Marc Marquez break in 2025 with Ducati?
With Ducati still looking the dominant force in MotoGP in 2025, the team and Marquez have the chance to set numerous records.
The Spaniard achieved the most wins in a season by a rider and team with Honda in 2014 – 13 and 14 respectively – on his way to his second championship. With 22 races in 2025, that feat could be crushed with the help of Francesco Bagnaia.
As well as being the youngest MotoGP champion, Marquez could become the oldest in 2025, beating Valentino Rossi’s record. However, Marquez is not thinking about this record, stating his comeback from injury is ‘more important’.
While he could set multiple new records in 2025, Marquez could also lose some. Rookie Fermin Aldeguer has less than two months from his birthday (April 5) to beat his fellow compatriot’s record of the youngest MotoGP winner.
