Jorge Martin suffered a devastating injury during MotoGP’s pre-season tests and is yet to confirm when he will return to racing action.
Aprilia have been left short-changed without their superstar signing and reigning champion, who failed to make it to the first race of the season without suffering a complication in his recovery.
The delay in Martin’s return not only saw him miss races in Thailand and Argentina but the upcoming Grand Prix of the Americas too.
It’s important for him to heal properly if he doesn’t want to do long-term damage. He could do major harm to his MotoGP career by rushing back too soon.
Just three weeks ago, Martin’s injury was described as a ‘real mess’ which goes to show how long his road to recovery may end up being.
It has nearly been two months since his accident already, and he is still not ready to return. It’s why Martin is feeling ‘a lot of anxiety watching Ai Ogura on an Aprilia bike. He’s unsure if he can replicate his success.

Aprilia staff have ‘doubts’ over possible Jorge Martin return at the Qatar Grand Prix
Aprilia suffered a disastrous Argentina Grand Prix – their second race without Martin this season. His replacement Lorenzo Savadori didn’t even make the race.
To add insult to injury, Marco Bezzecchi then crashed at the first corner and the Italian manufacturer had the two Trackhouse bikes leading their charge.
They need their superstar to return, but according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, it may not be coming any time soon.
The Italian outlet reports that Aprilia staff ‘doubt’ Martin’s ability to return in time for April’s Qatar Grand Prix.
That would make his return date his home race, the Spanish Grand Prix on April 27, nearly three months after his accident.

Which parts of Jorge Martin’s body are injured after MotoGP crash?
After originally sustaining fractures to his left foot and right hand in pre-season testing, he was hit with a much more severe setback in training.
While riding a supermoto machine, he managed to suffer another accident which broke his left scaphoid and radius, as well as bones in his left foot again.
The main problem with the scaphoid is that it’s a delicate bone, which takes a lot of time to heal – something Martin doesn’t really have.
Martin’s mother has one request for MotoGP bosses after her son missed the grid photo at the start of the year. She would like it retaken with him at the front, as he has earned.
First, he has to avoid reinjuring himself. Another accident could damage things so badly that he would be ruled out for the season.
