Miguel Oliveira was taken out of the Argentina Grand Prix sprint race and suffered injuries which prevented him from participating in the main event the following day.
The Pramac rider will sit out of the upcoming Grand Prix of the Americas as a result of his ligament damage and misses the opportunity to test himself on one of the trickiest tracks on the calendar.
Oliveira didn’t set the world alight during his debut on a Yamaha bike in Thailand, finishing 14th before his struggles continued in South America.
This year is the longest MotoGP season in history, with 22 races and plenty of time to adjust to new machinery. It won’t be an easy task if he sustained permanent injuries in Argentina.
After learning of his absence at the next race, Alex Rins sent Oliveira a four-word message wishing him well in his recovery.
Gino Borsoi’s injury update on Oliveira just one day after his accident was not promising, as he went on to suffer more pain on Sunday. Now there has been another update on his situation.

Miguel Oliveira’s recovery timeline from MotoGP crash ‘unclear’ after treatment update
Oliveira had high hopes in pre-season after starting on a new bike, with a new team for 2025. Yamaha’s winter improvements looked to have them in contention to have the second-fastest bike.
But it hasn’t translated to true race pace, and to go with Pramac’s lack of pace so far, now they must contend with an injured rider.
Speedweek reports that it is currently ‘unclear’ whether the Spaniard will return in time for next month’s Qatar Grand Prix.
He is continuing to follow his treatment plan, however, will definitely miss the Grand Prix of the Americas. Augusto Fernandez will replace him for the time being.
Fernandez failed to finish higher than 10th last season, resulting in him losing his seat at Tech3. His best finish in the sport is fourth, earned at the 2023 French Grand Prix.

Why Miguel Oliveira may not be upset to miss MotoGP’s Grand Prix of the Americas
Oliveira’s best finish at the COTA circuit is fifth, secured back in 2023 on RNF Racing’s (now Trackhouse) Aprilia bike.
Other than that, he hasn’t had the best of times in Austin, but he won’t be looking forward to the following race in Qatar much more if he is to return there.
His best finish there is 13th. It’s one of his weaker tracks and isn’t one for him to return and rebuild his confidence with. He may want to bide his time and allow himself to recover first.
Ligaments and joints which have been hurt after his collision with Fermin Aldeguer could take a while to stop being sore.
The quicker Oliveira rushes back, the more long-term damage he risks doing to himself which may affect his performance in the future.
