Jack Miller questions whether Pramac made ‘right decision’ with key MotoGP strategy call

Pramac’s transition from being a satellite Ducati outfit to a Yamaha customer has yielded the expected results.

Their bike won MotoGP’s riders’ championship courtesy of Jorge Martin in 2024, taking three victories along the way.

After plenty of pre-season promise, Yamaha’s bike doesn’t appear to have improved in race trim and it has hurt Pramac’s chances.

Jack Miller has been their standout rider and has been both consistent and dependent for his new team after a switch from KTM. The pace may not be there but he prefers the feeling on his new bike.

After falling on some tough times, Miller admitted Pramac ‘saved’ his career ahead of the 2025 season. He could have dropped off the grid.

Jack Miller says Pramac failed to make ‘right decision’ with Argentina Grand Prix strategy

After two races, the Aussie rider is 13th in the standings with eight points. He’s yet to finish in the top 10 this year.

Speaking to Crash after a difficult Argentina Grand Prix, Miller shared where he thinks his team made a mistake.

“The release at the start of the race wasn‘t too bad, but then I had a bit of wheel spin – maybe I was a little too aggressive on the clutch, or the track was quite dirty – which caused me to lose a few positions.

“Fortunately, I was able to recover them fairly quickly. However, we struggled with grip. We opted for the medium rear tyre, and I’m not sure if it was the right decision, but it’s always easier to say that after the race.”

Regardless of the poor strategy call, Miller is ‘so grateful’ not to face one KTM issue in 2025 after struggling to have confidence last season.

It should mean that better results are just around the corner when more performance is added to the Yamaha machine.

Why 2025 is a very important year for Jack Miller’s MotoGP career

After signing a one-year deal to join Pramac, Miller’s MotoGP future is going to be just as in doubt as it was last year if he fails to perform.

He has shown some promising signs so far and has some great experience to offer Pramac in their pursuit of better results.

Keeping him around for 2026 at least – the final year before a new set of technical regulations would be a wise idea.

Gino Borsoi was amazed by Miller’s ‘immediate’ adaptation to their bike and just how quickly he got up to speed on a new chassis.

He’s in a good position to help Yamaha develop their machine and is going to be in and around the top 10 every weekend. A big finish should come soon.
