Jack Miller is ‘so grateful’ he won’t face one KTM issue with Pramac Yamaha during the 2025 MotoGP season

Jack Miller faces a crucial 2025 season in MotoGP. The Aussie is fighting to keep his career in the premier class alive.

Moving over to satellite Yamaha team Pramac from the factory KTM team, Miller is on a ‘prove it’ contract in 2025. He likely would have been off the grid if the Tuscany-based team had not offered him a one-year deal.

Miller endured a difficult time at KTM after leaving Ducati in 2023. The 30-year-old grabbed one podium in his two seasons with the team.

While Brad Binder finished fifth in the standings last year, Miller was down in 14th with 87 points. He left KTM to make way for Pedro Acosta in 2025, prompting him to join Yamaha.

Pramac switched Ducati for Yamaha at the end of 2024 after winning the riders’ title with Jorge Martin. The Japanese manufacturer endured a torrid season last year as they finished 178 points behind Aprilia in third.

But Yamaha have made solid improvements over the winter break to catch their rivals – and Miller has found one KTM issue is not present on his YZR-M1.

Jack Miller is ‘so grateful’ he does not have KTM chatter issue with Pramac

Chatter proved to be a major issue for KTM in 2024. In fact, the problem is still present on the RC16 but KTM riders do not bring up the issue when questioned by the media.

In contrast, Yamaha looked to have improved drastically from 2024. Miller has adapted ‘immediately’ to the bike as he was competitive in the Thailand Grand Prix, albeit he fell back later in the race and finished 11th.

Journalist Peter McLaren noted that Miller found ‘zero chatter’ on the YZR-M1 in Thailand. The Aussie is ‘so grateful’ he does not have to deal with the issue at KTM anymore.

“Jack was saying that he’s had zero chatter. Which having spent, I think to use his words I can’t remember exactly but he said with the rear tyre trying to shake itself off the bike all of last year was sort of how he described the problems, which we saw,” said McLaren via The Crash MotoGP Podcast.

“He said: ‘Now, I just ride the bike, big smile on my face every time I get off it. Even if I fall off it’ because he said: ‘I know why things are happening’.

“He said it’s totally different now for him on the Yamaha. He doesn’t have these chattering issues. Chatter is still a thing across quite a few manufacturers, it’s just the riders don’t really bring it up unless they’re sort of prodded and pushed a little bit.

“Jack was asked directly and he did a zero with his hand, he said: ‘This much chatter’. So he was very clear about the fact that he doesn’t experience it on the Yamaha and he’s just so grateful to not have to deal with that problem.”

Neil Hodgson thinks 2025 is Jack Miller’s ‘last chance’ – can he make it count?

It is an encouraging start to the 2025 MotoGP season for Miller. While he faded towards the end of the race in Thailand, the pace of the Yamaha was clearly competitive in the warm conditions.

Miller has noticed how well the YZR-M1 corners when he is given a fresh tyre. This will prove advantageous for the 30-year-old if he can seize the opportunity on track.

Neil Hodgson thinks 2025 is Miller’s ‘last chance’ in the premier class. Having not won a race since 2021, the Aussie must make the most of this year with Pramac.

While race wins are likely out of the question, Yamaha have clearly improved in 2025. With a competitive bike behind him, Miller is in a good position to impress.
