Gino Borsoi amazed by what new Pramac rider Jack Miller ‘immediately’ did on a Yamaha MotoGP bike

Jack Miller has reunited with Pramac as a factory Yamaha rider for the 2025 MotoGP season after being axed by KTM and has already amazed team manager Gino Borsoi.

Borsoi has welcomed Miller back to Pramac after five years away following a three-year spell for the Tuscan team earlier in his premier class career. The 30-year-old rode for Pramac from 2018 to 2020 amid their spell as a satellite Ducati crew before he joined the Bologna Bullets.

Miller will now have raced for nearly every manufacturer on the grid once he starts the 2025 MotoGP season at the Grand Prix of Thailand on March 2. The Australian broke into MotoGP with a works Honda contract from 2015-17 and later added KTM to his CV in 2023 and 2024.

Once the season begins, the only active MotoGP constructor missing from Miller’s CV will be Aprilia after signing a one-year contract for Yamaha to re-join Pramac. Yamaha leapt on KTM releasing Miller to promote Pedro Acosta after securing Pramac as their new satellite squad.

Jack Miller amazes Pramac boss Gino Borsoi with his ‘immediate’ adaptation to a Yamaha M1 bike

With Pramac leaving Ducati to link up with Yamaha from the 2025 season, Miller has faced a difficult start to his second spell for the Tuscan squad. Never before had he ridden a Yamaha bike until the 2024 Barcelona post-season test and pre-season tests at Sepang and Buriram.

Yet the Townsville, Queensland native surprised team manager Borsoi during the pre-season test at the home of the Malaysian Grand Prix after Miller was instantly comfortable riding on Pramac’s Yamaha M1. He was on average 0.717 seconds per lap off the fastest Yamaha pilot.

Factory Yamaha rider Fabio Quartararo led the way on all three days for the Japanese brand at the Sepang International Circuit. But Miller was within 0.743s on Day 1, 0.681s on Day 2 and 0.728s on Day 3 to post the eighth, 10th and 12th fastest overall lap times respectively.

Borsoi exclaimed, via quotes by Speedweek: “It is amazing how quickly Jack has progressed in the winter tests. In Sepang, he was immediately at a high level and deeply involved in the project. The fact that he has come so close to Fabio’s times so quickly is a big plus.”

Jack Miller offers Yamaha and Pramac encouragement for the Thai Grand Prix

Miller adapting to his Yamaha M1 so quickly in Sepang clearly paid off as pre-season testing moved to the home of the Thai Grand Prix, where the Pramac ace was the Japanese brand’s fastest rider on Day 1. The Australian set the 10th overall best lap with Quartararo only P13.

Quartararo responded on Day 2 and the final day of pre-season testing to finish the running at Buriram in P8 while Miller remained in P10. But the pair were separated by just 0.031s at the close of Day 2 at Buriram, so Borsoi should carry his glee into the season-opening round.

Yamaha should also share Borsoi’s joy at Miller’s instant adaptation to the M1 during what is also a key year for the four-time MotoGP Grand Prix winner. Miller could only get a one-year contract after being dumped by KTM, so will be racing for his place in the premier class field.

But while he has offered Yamaha and Pramac encouragement for what he can offer, Ducati’s pace in the Buriram Test scared Miller. Marc Marquez topped the timesheets with the Borgo Panigale squad on Day 1 and Day 2 with a 0.880s margin to Miller and 0.731s to Quartararo.
