Marc Marquez has faced a whole host of issues to climb back to the top of the MotoGP ladder after six years without competing for a championship.
After 2025’s season-opening Grand Prix of Thailand, it can finally be confirmed that he is almost back to full strength.
Marquez dominated the weekend and looked far more comfortable on his bike than new teammate Francesco Bagnaia.
The Italian rider is competing in his sixth season for Ducati, which makes the six-time champion’s immediate performance seem even more special.
Marquez made a surprise ‘slow’ admission to Ducati about his pace in Thailand, despite winning both the sprint and the main race after taking pole position.
Bagnaia was ‘perplexed’ by Marquez and couldn’t understand how easily he was able to carry out his strategy during Sunday’s Grand Prix. He sat behind brother Alex and eased past him with four laps to go.

Marc Marquez faced ‘complicated’ issue before joining Ducati in 2024
Marquez stuck with Honda through their turbulent MotoGP spell – one they are only just starting to recover from now.
In 2024, he made the plunge to join Gresini and ride a Ducati. It was a clever move, as he won three races and started to rebuild his confidence.
It helped him to earn a promotion to the factory team for 2025, where he is now the favourite to earn a seventh riders’ championship.
Now the Spaniard has admitted that he had to get over a complicated issue to recover from his injuries and win again.
“I’m back to pushing the limits again to try to improve. In 2024, I did the most complicated thing, which was to come back and win with Gresini Racing after all those fractures,” he told GPOne.

What Davide Tardozzi told Marc Marquez to hide after Thailand Grand Prix victory
The early part of MotoGP’s calendar plays specifically into the championship leader’s hands. He has an advantage.
Marquez is tremendous on low grip tracks and in tricky conditions. The upcoming Argentina Grand Prix is one of his better circuits.
The following Grand Prix of the Americas at COTA is another strong track for him, and all of a sudden Bagnaia could be quite far behind him after just three races.
Davide Tardozzi told Marquez to hide an issue after the Thailand Grand Prix, where he had to manage his tyre pressures and drop behind his brother Alex.
Pressure is mounting the most on his rivals though, who will be aware that they cannot let him get too comfortable and build a gap, because he could easily run away.
