With the new MotoGP season just around the corner, excitement is building ahead of the season-opening Grand Prix of Thailand.

Many expect Ducati and their newly homologated GP24 engine to lead the way but there are some who are hoping to provide some resistance to their domination this year.

Francesco Bagnaia and Marc Marquez combine to form one of the greatest MotoGP rider pairings of all time.

Bagnaia and Marquez gave very different answers for title predictions and the two are expected to compete fiercely for the riders’ championship.

Behind them, there are some outsiders such as reigning champion Jorge Martin at Aprilia and KTM’s superstar Pedro Acosta.

Interestingly, none of the riders predicted either of those two to be champions this year in a video posted by MotoGP on X.

Ducati have made ‘completely new’ changes for their 2025 title defence and looked impressive during pre-season testing in Sepang and Buriram.

It was Marquez who seemed stronger than Bagnaia, but that could all change for the first race when the stakes are higher.

Here’s what some of the bigger names had to say about who will win the title this season ahead of the Grand Prix of Thailand:

Baganaia said: “Me, me, obviously.” While 2021 champion Fabio Quartararo disagreed with him: “I hope me. If I need to put something on somebody I will put on Marc.”

Aprilia’s Marco Bezzecchi said: “Hopefully an Aprilia will win it. Everyone is speaking about the dream team, the dream team.” While Marc Marquez backed a surprise candidate for contention: “I have a very strong teammate. I have a very strong housemate, my brother Alex.”

MotoGP riders predict Marc Marquez to win the title over Francesco Bagnaia

When tallying the votes, Marquez edged Bagnaia by a margin of 12-10, suggesting that his rivals believe he can return to top form.

They witnessed what he could do on a one-year-old Ducati bike at Gresini last year, claiming three victories.

Peter Bom thinks Bagnaia may be untouchable in his Marquez fight with a strong mentality and ability to avoid conflict.

The two clashed at last season’s Portuguese Grand Prix in a fight for fifth place. If it has happened before, it can happen again.
