Ducati are the MotoGP manufacturer with a metaphorical target on their back as they head into the 2025 season aiming to defend their titles.
Although the factory outfit didn’t win the riders’ championship, one of their bikes did as satellite team Pramac oversaw Jorge Martin’s successes.
The Spaniard beat Ducati’s two-time champion factory rider Francesco Bagnaia to the triumph by just 10 points, despite claiming eight fewer victories throughout the campaign.
Bagnaia spent his honeymoon haunted by his 2024 errors which ended up costing him a third consecutive crown by a slender margin.
Martin has left the Ducati stable to join Aprilia Racing for 2025 though, weakening his title defence and opening the door for the Italian to steal the trophy back.
He faces a new opponent on the other side of the garage though, with Marc Marquez ready to disturb his bid for a third championship in four seasons.

Every new component Ducati will have on their 2025 MotoGP bike
Bagnaia made strange mistakes which cost him dearly in 2024, which Marco Melandri believes was a result of feeling too comfortable on his bike sometimes.
The intense competition that Marquez will bring for 2025 should help eliminate that aspect of his riding. The six-time champion will push him all the way.

Ducati manager Luigi Dall’lgna revealed that just because their bike was good last year, doesn’t mean that they didn’t bother developing it over the winter. They have plenty of new parts to test.
“We have worked on some new solutions and new developments on this bike. Talking about the test that will start in two weeks, well the material we have to try is so much,” he said.
“We have a new swing arm, new chassis, we have a new fairing, completely new one. We also have other elements that have been adapted and retouched.
“We will have to experience and try them, all these materials. We will be strict in the selection of materials that really work. That will make the difference.”
Who is going to be Ducati’s stiffest MotoGP competition in 2025?
Both KTM and Aprilia failed to score even half the points that Ducati bikes managed in 2024, and the former’s position has only weakened over the winter due to financial issues.
Aprilia should improve with the introduction of the reigning champion, but not to the extent that they will be able to overpower their Italian rivals.

It means that the Ducati factory team, or one of their satellite teams at the very least will probably win both the teams’ and riders’ championship this year.
Valentino Rossi believes Bagnaia will be the champion in 2025 but there will be stiff competition from the likes of Marquez, Martin and maybe even young starlet Pedro Acosta.
It’s set up to be one of the most fascinating battles in recent history, with Ducati’s inter-team battle a key storyline to track. Will their riders clash?
