Jack Miller will embark on a new challenge in MotoGP as he moves over from KTM to Yamaha in 2025.
The Aussie will race with satellite team Pramac after they made the switch from Ducati. The Tuscany-based team won the riders’ championship with Jorge Martin last year.
Miller endured two difficult seasons with KTM satellite team Tech3, amassing just one podium. He finished 14th in the standings last year – his lowest finish since 2016.
Miller is on a ‘prove it’ contract with Yamaha as he is the only rider on their books on a one-year deal. The 30-year-old would likely be out of MotoGP had the Japanese manufacturer not signed him.
While optimism is high at Yamaha for 2025, it will be difficult for Miller to compete at the front – especially given the ‘scary’ pace of Ducati.

Jack Miller says Ducati’s pace is ‘scary’ – and they have not shown ‘everything’ yet
Ducati dominated the 2024 season with 19 out of a possible 20 wins. The GP24 bike won 16 of them and still proves to be the bike to be on after pre-season testing.
The factory Ducati team – piloted by Francesco Bagnaia and Marc Marquez – will run with the 2024 engine in their GP25. They are also set to run the 2024 chassis and aero parts ahead of the 2025 and 2026 engine freeze.
Marquez set the pace in the two-day test in Buriram. Speaking on After The Flag, Miller admitted the pace of the Ducati is ‘scary’ and even claimed they are not showing ‘everything’ yet.

“I think the red team’s going to be hard to beat at this point. Obviously with Marc and Pecco, two extremely… I guess you could say, strong championship contenders”, said Miller.
“I mean both of them have won many championships and look really strong on the bike. I don’t know what the situation is going on over there in their camp.
“But anyway, they haven’t showed us everything I don’t think and it’s scary because they’re already so quick”.

Yamaha have made significant progress in pre-season testing
Yamaha also made headlines in pre-season testing. The Japanese manufacturer have made serious progress off the track.
The arrival of Pramac as their satellite shows Yamaha’s intentions to return to the front of the field. They finished second-bottom in 2024, only beating Honda in the constructors’ championship.
Fabio Quartararo was eight tenths faster than Yamaha’s best-ever lap at Sepang in pre-season. It was a commendable effort from the Frenchman and a clear indication of the manufacturer’s potential.
Yamaha’s rivals feel ‘really strongly’ about the team’s progression heading into 2025. Davide Tardozzi sees Quartararo as Ducati’s main opponent as they look to maintain their dominance in MotoGP.
