Biaggi dominated the 250cc championship from 1991 until 1997 with four titles (1994, 1995, 1996, 1997), 29 wins and 33 pole positions from 88 races. He graduated to the 500cc class in 1998 and Biaggi finished second in the standings to Mick Doohan for the title as a rookie. The Rome native finished in the top three of the standings six times and won 13 of his 127 races.
