Marco Melandri has issued a bold prediction for Marc Marquez as the MotoGP grid heads to the Sachsenring for this weekend’s German Grand Prix – the Spaniard’s most dominant circuit.

With Marco Bezzecchi crashing out of the Dutch Grand Prix and Jorge Martin subsequently usurping the lead of the drivers’ championship from him, Marc Marquez is hoping to put another dagger into the hopes of Aprilia’s title challenge.

What is Marc Marquez’s BEST win at the German Grand Prix?

Marquez has won TWELVE times at the Sachsenring across his Grand Prix career!

The Ducati ace now sits 40 points behind the championship leader, the same deficit that he began the weekend at Assen with, which Neil Hodgson believes was a title-winning race for Marquez, considering his lack of adoration for the TT Circuit.

However, the upcoming German Grand Prix is a different story altogether, and MotoGP pundit Marco Melandri strongly believes that the Ant of Cervera’s rivals should be worried.

With Marquez already showcasing some fine form over the last few rounds, the Italian expects total domination from the reigning world champion at one of his favourite circuits on the premier class calendar.

“I’d say Marquez is five seconds ahead of the second-placed Ducati, at least five seconds,” he asserted.

Explaining his choice, he added, “The Aprilias will be very fast, because they take the corners really tightly, have plenty of grip and don’t wear out the tyres, so they’ll definitely be in the mix, but Marquez is usually on a whole other level here.”

The Spaniard is the second-most successful rider ever at the German GP across all classes, and the most successful altogether since the venue of the race moved to the Sachsenring in 2002.

Marquez’s win by over six seconds at the 2025 edition of the race marked his ninth win in the premier class at the Saxony-based circuit, as well as his 12th overall across all three Grand Prix motorcycle racing formats.

Only Giacomo Agostini holds more victories in Germany, with the legendary Italian scooping 13 German GP victories during his career, as well as a further 11 during the East German GP’s tenure on the calendar.
