What MotoGP riders are saying about ‘the show’ after testing 2027 bikes for the first time

Speaking from the private Pirelli test recently conducted, The Race’s Simon Patterson reported that most of the riders have been overwhelmingly positive on the new 2027 bikes.

Multiple riders reportedly told Patterson that the new bikes are not just fun to ride, but also address a lot of the complaints they have with the current generation of bikes.

“We also know from the test that this was the first chance a lot of guys had to try the new 850cc bikes, and as I’ve already said, without the ride height devices, with a reduced aero package, and generally with a lot more control put back in the hands of the riders.

“The positive news, both for the riders and for us as fans, is that the overwhelming feeling is that the package is good, it’s more fun to ride.

“Multiple riders told us that the new bikes are more fun for them, it reduces some of the constraints we have now with corner exits, where everyone is kind of perfect every corner exit because of the ride height device.

“So it’s going to be more competitive racing; it’s going to be in the hands of the rider. We’re going to get a better show.”

What do you think of the 2027 MotoGP regulations?

Are they a step in the right direction for the sport?

2027 regulations could be the great equaliser for MotoGP teams

If what the riders are saying about the 2027 bikes is true across the board, then fans can expect more parity and competitiveness among teams next season.

We know that teams that are struggling this season are seemingly doing very well with the 2027 bikes, with Yamaha in particular delivering rapid lap times at the test.

Despite initial concerns that Yamaha were running behind on development, they looked very fast and were right up there with Aprilia and Honda.

The 2027 regulation change could see more race winners than we have seen in recent seasons, as it provides a much-needed reset for MotoGP.
