Brad Binder’s MotoGP career is looking like it will come to an end in 2027, but he might have one final chance to save his seat, courtesy of Maverick Vinales.
The MotoGP rider market has been quite turbulent for KTM, as it was initially believed that Vinales would be promoted to the factory team in 2027. However, the Tech3 rider had his contract suspended due to his injury setbacks at the start of 2026.
The Spaniard’s situation was quite tense, as Vinales kept his shoulder injury a secret from KTM and tried to compete at COTA and Jerez, but later pulled out. This angered KTM and Tech3, and now, amid negotiations for a 2027 seat, things have exploded.

Will Brad Binder be on the MotoGP grid in 2027?
Brad Binder should get final chance to prove he deserves Tech3 seat after Maverick Vinales’ outburst
KTM will sign Alex Marquez and Fabio Di Giannantonio for 2027, leaving Binder out of the team. His only option for next season looked to be Tech3, but KTM removed Binder from the shortlist, with Vinales and Luca Marini being in contention.
Tech3 want an experienced rider to go next to a rookie, and it looks like a decision has been made. Marini is set to land the seat, coming after Vinales had a massive outburst towards KTM.
Top Gun stated that it would be the Austrian outfit’s fault if he were to lose his seat at Tech3 in 2027. Team owner Guenther Steiner responded to his outrageous comments, saying it was not the smartest thing to do, which is a huge understatement.
Who should fill the 2027 satellite seats?
This is what it's looking like, based on the rumours
Vinales’ MotoGP exit is entirely on him, not KTM. He consistently gave them the wrong idea about his injuries, not to mention his results have been far from satisfactory. With him seemingly out of the picture for the Tech3 seat, now is the time for Binder to pounce.
Marini looks a shoo-in for the seat with Tech3, but KTM will continue to weigh up their options for 2027. Binder should now at least be back in consideration.
The South African has 13 fewer points than Honda rider Marini at this stage in the season and is considerably outperforming Vinales. Binder also offers continuity, and not to mention, another different nationality on the grid, which is what MotoGP wants to expand the sport.
If KTM are still in the decision-making process for 2027, then Vinales may have inadvertently given Binder one final chance to prove to them that they should keep him on board. Marini is a decent rider, but the 31-year-old should have that opportunity to show he can still perform.
