After months of speculation, Fabio Di Giannantonio has sealed his move away from VR46, joining KTM next season alongside Alex Marquez.

Di Giannantonio was wanted by several teams for the 2027 season, seeing the VR46 rider as a suitable option heading into the new year.

However, it appears KTM have beaten everyone else to the punch, securing Di Giannantonio for their second rider seat heading into 2027.

With this move, KTM now have Di Giannantonio and Alex Marquez as their two riders in 2027. For their benefit, both riders have been teammates before, and can draw on that experience.

While KTM were one of the teams in contention for Diggia’s signature, this news has emerged seemingly out of nowhere, just hours before the French Grand Prix.

Fabio Di Giannantonio secures KTM move after heavy speculation

MotoGP journalist Rosario Triolo broke the news on X that Di Giannantonio would be taking his talents to KTM next season.

Diggia, who is coming off an excellent weekend in Jerez where he earned a podium finish at the Spanish Grand Prix, continues to rise as one of MotoGP’s next bright prospects.

There was some belief that Honda were gaining ground on Diggia in the last few days, but it appears KTM managed to beat them to the punch.

With both their rider spots now secured for 2027, KTM will be focusing on developing their 850cc prototype and getting it to the level they need ahead of the regulation change next year.

Fabio Di Giannantonio and Alex Marquez could help KTM ascend next season

Given the volatility surrounding the new season, the hope for Pit Beirer and other KTM officials is that the pairing of Diggia and Alex Marquez can help them massively next season.

KTM have been held back this season, partly due to Maverick Vinales’ injury issues, and have left points on the board as a team.

They could avoid this situation next season if both Diggia and Marquez can deliver at the level KTM expect them to in the future.

This also complicates things for Vinales and Brad Binder, both of whom will have to look elsewhere for seats next season.
