Trackhouse and Tech3 look to be Raul Fernandez’s only options for 2027, and Guenther Steiner has devised his plan to bring the Spaniard back to KTM.
It was rumoured that Trackhouse would be exploring other options for 2027, with Enea Bastianini and Luca Marini linked with the team. The former seems to be a concrete link, but the second seat is up in the air.
Trackhouse sponsors want to keep Fernandez next season, with his contract expiring in 2026. His stock has risen this year as he currently sits sixth in the standings with two podiums and two Sprint wins, the latest coming at the Dutch GP.
What is Raul Fernandez’s ceiling in MotoGP?
Guenther Steiner has offered Raul Fernandez the two-year contract at Tech3 that Trackhouse aren’t willing to offer
Despite his improved form, Trackhouse have only offered Fernandez a one-year deal for 2027, which would put him out of sync with the usual contract cycle.
He openly said that he wants a two-year deal from the satellite Aprilia team. That is exactly what Steiner has put to Fernandez at Tech3, according to journalist Simon Patterson.
Speaking from the paddock at Assen via The Race MotoGP YouTube channel, Patterson says the KTM satellite team have offered Fernandez a two-year deal for the 850cc era.

“We know that there’s an offer on the table from Trackhouse, but we’re also pretty sure that up until this point at least, that has been a one-year deal,” he said.
“And you speak to anyone in MotoGP, and they will tell you that a two-year deal is simply, as a rider, basically mandatory because of the stability it gives you. You need to be able to take those two-year plans forward.
“No one wants to be in a one-year deal. And we’ve seen others like Jack Miller and Cal Crutchlow in the past really begrudge being offered something like that.
“We believe that there was a two-year deal put on the table for Fernandez by rival KTM team Tech3, who are also in the market for kind of a fast lead rider to work alongside the rookie that they’re also going to end up signing for the other side of the garage.”
Who should fill the 2027 satellite seats?
This is what it's looking like, based on the rumours
Fernandez’s links to Tech3 have baffled paddock insiders due to his past relations with KTM. The two parties did not end on good terms, with the manufacturer promoting the rider to MotoGP early and the Spaniard buying out his own contract to join Aprilia.
Steiner and KTM disagree on signing Fernandez, with the former being more open to bringing him on board. It has been suggested that the Tech3 owner will have more authority over rider transfers, so he could be the deciding factor in Fernandez’s next move.
