Jorge Martin secured his first pole position of the 2026 MotoGP campaign at the Dutch Grand Prix as Aprilia locked out the first four spots of the grid, and Marc Marquez struggled in P7.
After leading both FP1 and practice on Friday, Marco Bezzecchi continued his fine form on Saturday morning as he set the pace in FP2 to claim the fastest time of the session.

Ahead of Bezzecchi’s benchmark in FP2, Gresini confirmed that Fermin Aldeguer had been declared unfit to take part in the rest of the Dutch Grand Prix weekend following his nasty crash in Friday afternoon’s pre-qualifying practice session.
Franco Morbidelli was also slapped with a three-place grid penalty in practice, after he was found guilty of riding slowly on the racing line and hindering the efforts of Tech3’s Enea Bastianini. After qualifying in P13, he will start Sunday’s Grand Prix from P16.

Jorge Martin claims pole position at the Dutch Grand Prix ahead of Ai Ogura
As the bottom 10 from practice made their way out onto the Assen TT Circuit for Q1, Joan Mir and Diogo Moreira were the first two riders to put their name in the hat for a Q2 appearance.
After last year’s pole-sitter Fabio Quartararo snatched the top spot, Moreira pushed too far over the limit as he tried to get himself back into contention and crashed out at turn seven. With two minutes left on the clock, his qualifying session was effectively over.
The Frenchman remained in the top spot as the chequered flag flew to end Q1. Mir followed Quartararo through to Q2 after coming to within half a tenth of the Yamaha rider’s lap time.
Bezzecchi led the way after the first round of flying laps in the second shootout, showing an intention to break Francesco Bagnaia’s 2024 Assen lap record. Raul Fernandez slotted himself into P2, ahead of Jorge Martin, to set a provisional Aprilia front row.
Marc Marquez struggled on his opening laps, with both of his first two laps of the session being wiped from the timesheets by the stewards for exceeding track limits. In the midst of Marquez’s woes, Martin snatched the top spot away from his teammate.
Ai Ogura moved himself up into P2 following Martin’s benchmark, with championship leader Bezzecchi rounding out the front row. Fernandez will lead the second row, alongside Bagnaia and Fabio Di Giannantonio.
