A veteran in MotoGP has been told that his ‘personality’ is the reason why he hasn’t been able to become a world champion.

The 2026 MotoGP title race took another twist last weekend after Marco Bezzecchi was banned from the Czech Grand Prix on the back of hitting a trackside marshal.

With Bezzecchi out of the race, the likes of Jorge Martin, Fabio Di Giannantonio and Marc Marquez had the chance to close the gap.

In the end, it was Marquez who won the Czech Grand Prix, with Martin finishing in ninth place, which allowed him to cut the gap to Bezzecchi to just eight points.

What is your one bold prediction for the 2026 Dutch Grand Prix at Assen?

Is it a surprise winner? A shock podium? Or a horrendous result?

Maverick Vinales told he ‘isn’t ready’ to win a MotoGP world title

Further down the grid, Tech3 rider Maverick Vinales struggled as he finished 15th while teammate Enea Bastianini came home 10th.

Vinales, 31, has represented manufacturers like Suzuki, Yamaha, Aprilia and KTM. The Spaniard has 10 MotoGP wins from 199 starts.

Despite his experience, Vinales has never won a MotoGP world title, with third being his best result.

Speaking recently, former LCR Honda boss Oscar Haro explained why Vinales will not win a world title.

Haro stated that although Vinales has ‘all the tools’, the Spaniard’s ‘complicated personality’ is the reason why he has failed to reach the top of the sport.

He also mentioned that although he ‘feels bad’ that Vinales may be left seatless for 2027, he feels the 31-year-old got ‘too comfortable’.

Haro said to NicoabadTV, via journalist Ruben Canales: “I know Viñales quite well, and I think he’s a tremendous rider. But he won the Moto3 World Championship, and it was already clear he wouldn’t win another. He wasn’t going to win another because of the way he is; he has a rather complicated personality.

“He’s a rider who has had all the tools: he’s won with Suzuki, Yamaha, and Aprilia… He’s very good, but he isn’t a rider who will win a MotoGP World Championship.

“To me, psychologically, he isn’t ready. And I feel bad that he might be left without a seat, but ultimately, there are riders who get too comfortable in their position… I also feel bad telling Jack Miller—or Binder or Rins—that their time is up. But how many years have they been in MotoGP?”

Looking ahead, it has been suggested that a contract extension at Tech3 is still a possibility, but Vinales recently admitted that he has no idea whether he will be on the MotoGP grid next year.

Meanwhile, the expected KTM factory team line-up for 2027 is set to be made up of Alex Marquez and DiGiannantonio.
