Pedro Acosta didn’t have a strong season with KTM in 2025, but it taught him more about himself and what it takes to attain success in MotoGP.
As Acosta looks set to join Ducati in 2027, the Spanish rider is focusing on getting to the best level possible before the move.
Even with the weaknesses of the KTM bike, Acosta managed to battle against Marc Marquez in what proved to be an amazing preview of their duels as teammates next season.
Does Marc Marquez already think Pedro Acosta will challenge him at Ducati in 2027? 👀
Compared to where Pedro Acosta was last year with KTM, his improvement has been a joy for fans to watch. But the Spaniard had to come a long way to make this happen.
And in a recent interview, Acosta admitted that his results with KTM showed him that it was better to quietly put in the work rather than loudly make mistakes.

Pedro Acosta admits KTM officials told him to ‘stop crashing’ and focus on good results
Speaking in an interview with Gypsy Tales Podcast, Pedro Acosta looked back on his season in 2025, and how he was getting in his own way as a rider.
Acosta admitted to being in his own bubble, and it wasn’t until KTM officials told him to focus more on getting the best out of the bike rather than trying to pursue a championship that Acosta learned what he needed to change.
“Being honest, I’m quite happy (with) how I managed to gain things. It’s true that in 2025, the first part of the season, I f—– up many times. For me, beginning of the season was to shut up myself, don’t talk.
“I was not seeing the reality. I was in my own world, trying to not see things if I (wanted to) win the championship. I was not really wanting to ride. I was not knowing why things were not going well.
“(KTM) would say, ‘Okay, look, this is what you have. This is what you will have to be if you want to race. Stop thinking about the championship. That is already gone. Give 100% of what you have. Maybe one day you will be fifth, maybe one day you will be sixth. But stop crashing, because you will not build confidence any time.’

Pedro Acosta admits he isn’t the ‘easiest’ person to work with ahead of Ducati move
Pedro Acosta also spoke about how he can be difficult to work with as a rider given how honest he is, and how he has worked on his professionalism over the last year.
“I’m really honest to the team, because at the end, they are the ones that are more interested in improving the bike. I know I’m not the easiest person to work with, because sometimes I’m so honest that it can sound rude.
“But sometimes I think if you don’t talk like this, or show people that don’t take it seriously… I think I’ve improved quite a lot in these things. I know how to put emotions aside and be more professional inside the box.”
Acosta’s admission of his own weaknesses will be received well by Ducati officials, given that it shows his growth and maturity.
While Acosta is different from Marquez as a rider, he is a talented performer who can help Ducati make up lost ground to Aprilia next season if he brings this professional attitude to the team.
