Julia Marquez begged for Ducati rider Marc Marquez to “slow down” during his win in the 2026 MotoGP Hungarian Grand Prix, as his son was being “crazy” at Balaton Park.

Marc Marquez recorded his first feature race win in almost a year in the Hungarian GP, as he overcame a fight with KTM racer Pedro Acosta to convert pole position. The 33-year-old had not won a Grand Prix since MotoGP visited Misano in September before his win last Sunday.

The Ducati star even enjoyed a perfect weekend at Balaton Park, as Marquez won the Sprint race in Hungary on the back of securing pole last Saturday. And on Sunday, the fastest lap sat with his name as Marquez won the Hungarian GP for his first Grand Prix podium of 2026.

Of all 100 of Marc Marquez’s victories, which one is his BEST?

Marc Marquez made his dad nervous by setting the fastest lap during his Hungarian Grand Prix win

Winning the Hungarian GP carried an extra degree of significance for Marquez, too, after the Ducati star only returned from injury at the Italian Grand Prix a week before. Marquez made his return from injury at Mugello, after requiring surgery on his right shoulder and right foot.

But seeing Marquez set the fastest lap on Lap 20 of the Hungarian GP with a 1:38.313 was a bit much for his father. Julia Marquez pleaded for Marc to take it a bit easier after seeing off the threat that Acosta had offered earlier on, particularly after his recent return from injury.

MotoGP’s official X account has released footage taken from inside the Ducati garage during the Hungarian GP showing Julia Marquez’s reactions to Marc’s victory at Balaton Park. After noticing on the timing screen that Marc had recorded a new fastest lap, Julia Maruqez said: “Wow! Fastest lap. He’s crazy. Slow down, slow down. Come on Marc, you’ve already got it.”

Julia continued to beg for Marc Marquez to be “smooth, smooth, smooth” as the Hungarian GP rolled on with his son in the lead. In the end, the seven-time MotoGP champion finished the race with a 1.343 second gap over Acosta and a 11.632s gap to Francesco Bagnaia in P3.

Marc Marquez’s victories in the Balaton Park Sprint and in the Hungarian GP also moved the Ducati racer to fifth in the 2026 MotoGP riders’ standings. He now faces a 72-point deficit to Aprilia’s Marco Bezzecchi and 52-point deficit to Jorge Martin plus a 24-point gap to Acosta.

Balaton Park’s kinder circuit layout and heavy reliance on left-hand corners helped Marquez achieve his dominant performance while still regaining muscle in his right shoulder. He is the first rider to secure a clean sweep of pole, Sprint win, Grand Prix win and fastest lap in 2026.
