Marc Marquez has claimed his 100th motorcycle Grand Prix win at the Hungarian Grand Prix, ending his ad Ducati’s losing streak.

The Ant of Cervera beat Pedro Acosta in a tense battle to clinch his first win since San Marino last year. He is now the third rider to reach 100 wins behind Giacomo Agostini and Valentino Rossi.

WHAT A BATTLE! 😍 How far is Pedro Acosta off Marc Marquez in terms of talent?

Despite winning the Sprint race dominantly, Marquez had been playing down his expectations at the Hungarian Grand Prix. He insisted that he would be in for a tough fight on Sunday, and that is exactly what he got.

A difficult start for the Ducati rider put Acosta alongside him into turn one. The pair would find themselves in a league of their own after the first corner as a multi-bike crash split the field completely.

Jorge Martin locked the front entering turn one and wiped out Aprilia teammate Marco Bezzecchi, Fabio Di Giannantonio, Raul Fernandez and Fermin Aldeguer. It has major implications for the championship, with four of the top five, including the top three, all out at turn one.

The following lap, Acosta started to stamp his authority, claiming the lead from Marquez. The duo soon exchanged fastest laps as they set up a dramatic battle.

On lap 14, Marquez made his move for the lead, only for Acosta to go back under him and regain the lead. The KTM rider blocked off his future teammate in the final corner, making contact.

The pressure from the Ducati rider was ultimately too much, however, as Marquez passed Acosta on lap 15 and started to bridge the gap. His tyres and physical condition were not a problem as the 33-year-old clinched a historic win

Acosta had to settle for second, while Bagnaia was in a race of his own as he claimed the final podium spot.
