Nicolo Bulega says he would not be happy with Ducati if he did not get a chance in MotoGP for the 2027 season.

The Italian has made no secret of his intentions to land a MotoGP seat next season. With Pirelli tyres and 850cc bikes, Bulega wants his shot in the premier class, after impressing for Ducati in the final two rounds of 2025 as Marc Marquez’s replacement.

However, Bulega’s MotoGP chances are 50/50 as he negotiates with teams for a 2027 seat. The factory Ducati team and Gresini are off the table, but with Fabio Di Giannantonio joining KTM, a spot has opened up at VR46.

Nicolo Bulega ‘wouldn’t be happy’ if Ducati do not give him a 2027 MotoGP seat

Bulega is in the running for the VR46 seat alongside fellow Italians Franco Morbidelli, Luca Marini and Celestino Vietti. Valentino Rossi wants an Italian to partner with Fermin Aldeguer, and has implied that the fastest of the four riders will get the seat.

Bulega is tearing World Superbikes apart in 2026, having won all 18 races so far. He is a shoo-in for the championship, and he believes his form deserves a shot in MotoGP.

He admitted to Motosan that he would not be happy if Ducati did not give him a seat in the premier class. The Borgo Panigale outfit want to keep him in WSBK, but Bulega is desperate to get to MotoGP.

If Ducati cannot offer Nicolo Bulega a MotoGP move for 2027, should he join a rival manufacturer?

“I certainly have an excellent relationship with Ducati: we’re winning a lot of races and the relationship is fantastic,” he said.

“They’ve given me the opportunity to become a very strong rider in Superbike and I thank them for that, as well as for the test rider role.

“But I also believe I deserve a chance in MotoGP. If I didn’t get it, I certainly wouldn’t be happy. We’ll see what the future holds.”

Nicolo Bulega says he is in an ‘excellent moment’ with Ducati in WSBK

Bulega added that he is loving his time with Ducati in 2026. Alongside his testing role with the MotoGP team, he is feeling incredibly comfortable in WSBK.

“Let’s just say I’m in an excellent moment. I feel very comfortable with the bike and also with the team. We’ve created a very relaxed relationship and atmosphere in the garage; we’re all delighted to work together.

“Then, of course, when there are results, everything is easier. The true team spirit is revealed in difficult times, but for now, there are only good moments, so we’re enjoying the moment.”
