Ducati team chief Davide Tardozzi has revealed the ‘only’ piece of advice that he gave to Marc Marquez following his latest injury setback at the French Grand Prix.
The reigning world champion suffered a violent highside crash during last weekend’s Sprint race, which has effectively put a hold on the defence of his 2025 riders’ championship.

After it was revealed that the factory Ducati star had sustained a fracture to his right foot, it also came to light that Marc Marquez had been suffering from a loose screw in his right arm, and that he had already scheduled surgery to fix it for after the Catalan Grand Prix.
However, the incident that unfolded at the Le Mans-based Bugatti Circuit meant that he could undergo both procedures at the same time. Marquez is now looking at a few weeks on the sidelines at the very least.

Davide Tardozzi reveals his ‘only advice’ to Marc Marquez after Le Mans injury
Speaking to MOW inside Ducati’s garages at the Catalan Grand Prix, team boss Davide Tardozzi revealed the only piece of advice that he gave Marquez regarding the Spaniard’s return to action following his latest injury in MotoGP.
A behind-the-scenes video from inside the Italian constructor’s Le Mans box showed Marquez tearfully admitting his ‘secret’ injuries to Ducati chief Luigi Dall’Igna. Things clearly haven’t been right for a while, and Tardozzi notes that his priority is for Marquez to return fully fit.
Are Ducati making a mistake not replacing Marc Marquez for the Catalan Grand Prix?
“The only advice I gave him is to come back when he’s feeling well, but the best advice he can get is from the team of doctors who treated him,” Tardozzi told the Italian outlet.
“So, at the moment, we’re not making any predictions; we’ll wait until he’s well, and then when he feels up to it. At that point, he’ll be welcome back, because we can’t wait for him to return.”
Tardozzi was then asked if he thinks Marquez will still be able to put up a defence of his 2025 title upon his return to action, to which he replied, “Right now, the priority is for him to come back.
“After that, we’ll work out when he’ll return and how he’ll return. He’ll come back and we’ll see what can be done.”
Davide Tardozzi also hailed Marc Marquez for showing his ‘vulnerability’ in surgery admission
During his words to MOW, Tardozzi also thanked Marquez for allowing Ducati’s media team to release the footage of his emotional admission inside the team’s garages.
“Under those circumstances, we must first of all thank Marc for allowing us to capture that intimate moment on film, because it was a truly very special moment, when he opened up,” Tardozzi added.
“We really saw the vulnerability of the rider, the champion, the hero of so many fans, laid bare, as he indirectly asked the team for support; so it was admirable that he allowed us to show it.
“But this is because we asked him, because we thought it was important, because it shows ‘this is who I am’. It doesn’t show the champion; it shows the young man with everything that lies behind the achievements of a champion like him.
“There is fragility, there is a team, there is support that must be given to these young men who do incredible things on the track.”
