What Marc Marquez is telling his Ducati colleagues about Marco Bezzecchi amid MotoGP title fight

Marc Marquez wants Ducati to take a page out of Marco Bezzecchi and Aprilia’s playbook this season, as he looks to climb his way back to championship contention.

After a disastrous result at the Spanish Grand Prix, many believe Marc Marquez blew his last chance at winning a world championship, not just this season, but for the remainder of his career.

Marquez is now 44 points behind Marco Bezzecchi, one of the largest points deficits of his career, making a comeback and a title win highly unlikely.

Did Marc Marquez end his title hopes at Jerez or was it just a blip?

It appears Marquez’s injury woes are more serious than initially presumed, which is why he has struggled to start the season off strong.

But for Marc Marquez, the priority is figuring out how he and Ducati can replicate the success of Marco Bezzecchi and Aprilia this season.

Marc Marquez ‘always tells’ Ducati to follow Marco Bezzecchi and Aprilia’s approach to race weekends

Speaking on Nicoabad TV, MotoGP reporter Mela Chercoles spoke about the mindset Marc Marquez wants to adapt as he looks to come back in the title race against Marco Bezzecchi.

Marquez reportedly has great admiration for the way Marco Bezzecchi handles his race weekends, and wants Ducati to try and replicate the same approach.

“If you look at Bezzecchi on Saturday, he’s at 0-3. Then a second place. He puts in a ton of work in the pits on Saturday. He’s the one who works harder than anyone else, by far.

“He loves being in the pits, he works wonderfully, he sees what everyone is doing, he gets along well with Flamigni, with his engineers, and then he always takes a step forward on Sunday.

“Marc always tells Ducati, Bezzecchi always improves on Saturday’s performance on Sunday, and we have to do that too.

“Because Marc usually starts stronger, and then they catch up to him. He has to manage to start strong and still develop a bit.”

Marc Marquez crashed trying to fight off Marco Bezzecchi and Fabio Di Giannantonio

Earlier in his Spanish Grand Prix review, Mercoles also revealed that during a conversation with Marc Marquez, he admitted that the crash came not because of his duel with Alex Marquez, but because he was trying to fend off Marco Bezzecchi and Fabio Di Giannantonio.

“Marc told us he was pushing hard not to get back on his brother and return the favour, but to escape those who were chasing him – Bezzecchi and Di Giannantonio. And I believe him because he knew better than anyone that Alex Marquez was going to win on Sunday…”

There is some concern that Marquez can’t keep up with high-speed corners, and that proved to be the case during the Spanish Grand Prix.

Hopefully, Marquez can try and bounce back at the French Grand Prix in Le Mans, as his title hopes are on life support as things stand.
