Jorge Martin doesn’t agree with Valentino Rossi’s claim about injuries in MotoGP

Speaking in an interview with Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Jorge Martin was asked about Valentino Rossi’s recent comments about his injuries.

Martin made sure to preface that his response was coming from a place of respect, but admitted that his comments were inaccurate, adding that the injuries make him more careful rather than slowing him down.

“Well, I don’t mean to contradict Valentino Rossi, and honestly, it’s not the best thing I’m going to do today (laughs), but I do believe you do recover. It’s true that you evolve or grow, you improve, call it what you will.

“It’s clear that you try to limit risks as you get older. When you’re young, it’s different; you go out and don’t care about anything, but when you get older, you know you can’t get hurt, and you don’t recover in the same way.

“But I do believe you recover 100%. Maybe it’s a different 100%, but you get back to that level.”

“The truth is, I’m really looking forward to it. Jerez is always special. The atmosphere there is unlike anywhere else in the world.

“It’s true that it’s a track that hasn’t been my strong suit in the past, but it’s not the worst either; I can do well there.

“We’ll see how I adapt to the Aprilia. It’s also a new track. I need time to get everything ready and arrive on Sunday. I’m sure I’ll enjoy it a lot.”

Martin is sure to face a challenge from Marc Marquez, as the two Spaniards battle it out to earn bragging rights at their home race.
