Jorge Martin has an edge over Marco Bezzecchi, despite the Italian being the more ‘complete’ rider of the two.

With Bezzecchi and Martin being divided by just four points in the championship race, fans are expecting an all-Aprilia title race this season.

Bezzecchi will have Aprilia’s support over Martin given that the latter is set to leave the team at the end of the season.

Martin’s choice to join Yamaha next year has added another complicated layer to this brewing title rivalry, despite them still representing Aprilia as things stand.

But despite Bezzecchi’s excellent form this year, he will be worried about the threat Martin poses to him in the championship race.

Lorenzo Savadori hails Jorge Martin’s immense ‘talent’ despite injury concerns

Speaking in an interview with Chiacchiere da Box, Aprilia test rider Lorenzo Savadori was asked to describe what he’s seen from Jorge Martin.

He claimed that Martin has a ‘frightening talent’ that has allowed him to overcome several challenges this season, including his injury issues from last year.

“Clearly, Jorge was the 2024 world champion. He has a frightening talent because even now, he’s coming off a year where he was hurt.

“He’s not 100% familiar; he’s never ridden this bike in the winter. He rode a little last year. I’m not saying he doesn’t know the bike too well.

“But overall, he’s ridden less than others. But he immediately found himself competitive and he’s right there at the front. Clearly, this is talent.”

Lorenzo Savadori backs ‘complete’ Marco Bezzecchi as great rider

Speaking further during the interview, Savadori took nothing away from Marco Bezzecchi, whom he considers to be a complete rider, one who approaches the sport the right way.

“Bez is truly very complete, in the sense that he’s someone who really analyses every little detail. He’s someone who never gives up, has a truly positive attitude, always pushes himself to do more, and always puts himself on the line. I really like his way of doing things.”

There’s no doubt that Bezzecchi will be worried about Martin in the title race, not just because of the threat he poses, but also because their battle could open the door for Marc Marquez to make up ground.

As things stand, Aprilia are happy letting Bezzecchi and Martin compete, opting against introducing team orders in either rider’s favour.

With the two riders so competitive this early in the season, fans could be set for a thrilling title fight between both Aprilia riders.
