Jonathan Rea claims ‘incredible’ Pedro Acosta ‘already looks’ like a Ducati driver

Speaking with GPOne, Jonathan Rea was effusive in his praise for Pedro Acosta and how well he seems to be doing at such an early age.

Rea praised his competitiveness and pointed to his great potential as a future Ducati rider. He believes Acosta and Marc Marquez can be a phenomenal duo in MotoGP for years to come.

“He is an incredible talent, one of those who belongs in the new generation. It will be interesting to see how he grows in the coming years. He has always been very competitive, and I like his approach from the lower categories.

“I see a super talented driver in him, and I think we’ll see him grow even further. He already looks like a Ducati rider for the next few years, and so, there is a lot of curiosity. Him and Marc like Senna and Prost? I don’t know. If that is the case, it would be fascinating.”

To call Acosta ahead of his time, like Rea just did, is incredibly high praise. And with an expected move to Ducati looming, he could cement himself as one of the world’s best in quick fashion.

Pedro Acosta must not let potential Ducati move impact final season with KTM

While the rumours about Acosta joining Ducati next season have been persistent, there has been no confirmation that the Spaniard will be teaming with Marc Marquez next season.

Acosta openly discussing his future has not gone down well with everyone, as some believe he is taking his eye off the ball and not prioritising KTM as much as he should.

For the most part, Acosta has done well for KTM this season. In fact, Acosta routinely outperforms Brad Binder, showing that he is still their primary option to score points on any given race weekend.

And while he is set to join them next season, Acosta is threatening Ducati this season with strong outings, including a P3 finish at Austin ahead of Marquez.

This could be a sign that Acosta can rival Marquez when he joins Ducati, providing the team with an interesting dynamic to address.
