Pedro Acosta’s inability to win a race this season is down to KTM not doing what is needed to help him deliver, according to Andrea Dovizioso.
Acosta is the only rider in the top five of the MotoGP standings to not win a race this season, earning just five podium finishes so far.
Despite Acosta showing more maturity this season, he hasn’t been able to earn a race win so far, showing there is still something holding him back.

In fact, Acosta is yet to win a Grand Prix in his career so far, with his only win coming in the Thailand Sprint race.
If you ask Andrea Dovizioso, he believes Acosta has the talent to earn a race win, but has been held back by KTM.

In a conversation with Moto.it, Andrea Dovizioso noted that Pedro Acosta has the tools to secure multiple podium finishes, but to win races consistently and fight for the championship, he needs more.
He urged KTM to provide Acosta with a better bike to see what he is capable of. Until they can do that, Acosta won’t be in the mix for the world championship.
“Acosta will be up front many times, but to fight for the championship, KTM needs to take another step forward. Until we see Pedro on a different bike, we won’t know exactly what he’s capable of.”
It’s no secret that KTM haven’t delivered the strongest bike possible for Acosta, or his teammate, Brad Binder.
In fact, Acosta urged KTM to improve the bike to get the best out of both himself and Binder for the remainder of the season.

An inaugural race win this season before he joins Ducati will be a huge boost to his confidence, but Acosta will not have it easy.
Acosta has managed to push Ducati this season, which will give them confidence about his prospects when he joins them. But a Grand Prix win will silence any critics who question his readiness for such a big move.
