Jorge Martin battled his way to a Sprint race podium at the Brazilian Grand Prix as he beat teammate, Marco Bezzecchi.
The Brazilian Grand Prix sprint race marked a return to the podium for Jorge Martin after a terrible 2025 season that was plagued by injuries.
After spending the majority of the year on the sidelines in 2025, Martin had to watch his Aprilia teammate, Marco Bezzecchi, become the number one rider for the Italian manufacturer.
However, after witnessing his teammate win the opening Grand Prix of the season in Thailand, Martin bounced back in Brazil with his first Sprint Race podium since 2024 as he finished in third place, ahead of Bezzecchi.

After the delayed Sprint Race at the Brazilian Grand Prix, Neil Hodgson reacted to Martin’s performance after he beat his teammate in a head-to-head battle.
Hodgson believes this performance shows ‘what could have been’ for Martin at Aprilia, as rumours suggest the Spaniard will leave Aprilia for Yamaha in 2026.
Emmett said, “Jorge Martin will see this as a landmark moment in his recovery after a year in the doldrums. He could not defend his world title like he deserved to with injuries galore last season.
“He has beaten his teammate, Marco Bezzecchi to the final podium position, his first Sprint podium, Martin, since Malaysia 2024, and he will now be thinking of all he has had to go through in the interim.”
Hodgson added, “He will be thinking, ‘How unlucky have I been?’ Missing a full season and now it looks like he will be signing for Yamaha, that is if all the rumours are right.
“What could have been hey? That relationship between Jorge Martin and Aprilia.”

Marc Marquez takes his first Sprint victory of 2026
After being denied victory in the opening Sprint race of the season in Thailand, Marquez bounced back after a lengthy delay at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Marquez was penalised on the final lap in a battle with Pedro Acosta during the Thailand Sprint Race, but he left nothing to chance during his battle with Fabio di Giannantonio in Brazil.
In the latter laps of the Sprint race, Marquez was able to pressure di Giannantonio into a mistake, and took the lead away from the Italian.
During the final lap, di Giannantonio looked for an opportunity to pass Marquez, but the opportunity never came, and he had to settle for second place.
