Gresini’s Alex Marquez saying “watch out” for Goiania’s left-hand corners has given Ducati’s Marc Marquez his biggest reason to be hopeful for the Brazilian Grand Prix.
MotoGP has returned to Goiania for the first time since 1989 this week, as the series revives the Brazilian GP for the first time since 1992. Marc Marquez can add a 23rd circuit to his win tally with the victory on Sunday, which would even be his 100th career win across all classes.
But Goiania has been dubbed an anti-Marquez circuit, due to the track featuring nine right-hand corners and just five left-hand corners. The opening right-hand turn is so long, in fact, that it is officially declared as two corners, and riders only turn left between Turns 5 and 10.

Alex Marquez saying ‘watch out’ for the left-hand corners offers Marc Marquez optimism for the Brazilian Grand Prix
Left-hand corners are one of Marquez’s greatest strengths over his rival riders, which is why the Ducati star has been so dominant at the German Grand Prix throughout his career. Few riders have ever been able to get close to the speed that Marquez carries while turning left.

So, Gresini pilot Alex Marquez saying the left-hand corners in Goiania are the ones you must “watch out” for, as they are the “most difficult”, could be a source of hope for his brother for the Brazilian GP. Alex particularly expects the left-hand Turn 10 to be a key corner this week.
Alex Marquez stated, via quotes by AS: “There are few left-hand corners. But the ones there are, watch out, they’re the important ones. For me, they’re the most difficult. There’s a left-hand braking zone where you enter a slow chicane where you can make a difference.”
Marc Marquez doubts Goiania is the ‘best’ for his riding style as the track is like Barcelona
Turn 10 is the slowest out of the five left-hand corners in Goiania, and it may be where Marc Marquez can make the biggest difference judging by Alex Marquez’s prediction ahead of the Brazilian GP. Turn 5 might also be another left-hand turn where Marc can make a difference.

What’s your podium prediction for the Brazilian Grand Prix?
But while Alex expects the left-hand turns to be the most challenging corners in Goiania this week, Marc does not believe the Brazilian GP venue has the “best” layout for his riding style. The seven-time MotoGP champion thinks the number of right-hand turns might be an issue.
Additionally, Marc likens the Goiania track to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, where Alex Marquez beat his brother to win the 2025 Catalan Grand Prix. Alex even secured pole with a 0.409s advantage over Marc in P3 in Montmelo, but Marc won the Sprint after Alex crashed.
Marc Marquez said, via The Race: “I would like to have more left corners, obviously. But the layout looks nice. It’s true that it’s not the best layout for my riding style. These right corners are quite similar to Barcelona, and Barcelona is not a good circuit for me.”
