MotoGP’s speculated rescheduled date for the Grand Prix of Qatar would be ‘impossible’ due to Formula 1.

On Saturday, the 13th of March, it had been suggested that MotoGP could move the Grand Prix of Qatar to December and make it the series finale.

However, it has been discussed, and it seems like Formula 1 would prevent MotoGP from taking place on the first weekend of December at the Lusail International Circuit.

The reason that the Qatar Grand Prix will need to be rescheduled is due to the hostilities in the Middle East, which have already caused Formula 1 to cancel the Bahrain and Saudi Arabian Grands Prix.

MotoGP is set to visit the Lusail International Circuit for the fourth round of the season in April, but it is expected that MotoGP and the FIM will make a decision regarding the Grand Prix of Qatar soon.

Formula 1 will make it ‘impossible’ for MotoGP in Qatar

Simon Patterson and Mat Oxley had discussed the idea of MotoGP heading to Qatar for the 4th, 5th, and 6th of December. However, Formula 1 would prevent this from occurring.

Formula 1 are set to hold their Grand Prix of Qatar on the 27th, 28th, and 29th of November, a week before the speculated MotoGP round.

Due to the changes that would have to be made to the Lusail International Circuit in the week between the races, Patterson said on X that he now believes it would be ‘impossible’ for the races to take place within a week of each other at the same circuit.

Patterson said, “Someone in the know has just reminded me that Qatar hosting F1 and MotoGP back to back (let alone simultaneously) might well be impossible given that there needs to be significant alterations to kerbs and gravel traps”
