According to a recent report, Trackhouse owner Justin Marks is ‘seriously considering’ selling a significant portion of the MotoGP team, casting Raul Fernandez’s MotoGP future in doubt despite his strong start to the 2026 term.

Trackhouse are a beneficiary of the incredible progress Aprilia made over the winter break, and it was evident during last weekend’s season-opening Thailand Grand Prix.

After securing a maiden win in MotoGP last year, Raul Fernandez started the new year of racing in a similar fashion to how he ended 2025: on the podium.

The Spaniard didn’t put a foot wrong during the race weekend in Buriram, securing back-to-back P3s as Marco Bezzecchi sought out glory in the Grand Prix.

After a difficult start to last year’s campaign, Fernandez’s future in the premier class was thrown into doubt. Despite the first round of 2026 being head and shoulders above it, he’s still facing the same questions.

Raul Fernandez’s seat at Trackhouse is in doubt as owners seek a partial sale of the MotoGP outfit

According to a recent report from Motorsport Italia, Fernandez has yet to receive an offer from the Aprilia-backed American racing outfit regarding the 2027 MotoGP season.

The factory Aprilia team have been suggested to have already finalised their line-up for MotoGP’s new regulatory era, with official confirmation of Francesco Bagnaia’s addition to the team alongside Marco Bezzecchi now just a formality.

However, one thing that is understood to have thrown a spanner in Fernandez’s future plans is that Trackhouse owner Justin Marks is reportedly ‘seriously considering’ a partial sale of the team.

The 2027 rider line-up for Trackhouse is expected to be affected by the shift in ownership, and Fernandez may be forced to make way for a more exciting candidate.

Liberty Media have sought to address the Spanish and Italian dominance in MotoGP since taking over the reins of the sport last year, and with Fernandez being one of nine riders from the Iberian country currently on the grid, they would also likely welcome his exit.

Possible replacements for the Spaniard at Trackhouse have already been thrown around, including the reunification of team boss Davide Brivio with one of his former world champions.

Joan Mir has been touted as a possible replacement for Raul Fernandez at Trackhouse

A separate report by Speedweek has suggested that Joan Mir may be a potential candidate to replace Fernandez at the Aprilia-backed satellite team next season.

With Fabio Quartararo reportedly on his way to partner with Luca Marini at Honda for 2027, it leaves the 2021 world champion with limited options.

However, Mir’s prior relationship with Brivio is the leading factor as to why he’s being considered for Fernandez’s seat at Trackhouse.

The rider/team principal duo formed a title-winning partnership at Suzuki in 2021, and could very well be reunited with one another in MotoGP’s regulatory reset.
