The Pramac MotoGP team have gone from incredible highs to disappointing lows since they decided to switch from Ducati to Yamaha bikes.
The Tuscany-based team won the 2024 title with Jorge Martin as a Ducati satellite team, making them the only independent team to become MotoGP champions. But in 2025, Pramac was almost unrecognisable.

Martin defected to Aprilia after missing out on a factory Ducati seat, and Pramac themselves would also leave the Borgo Panigale manufacturer. They decided to join forces with Yamaha, as they looked to build back to the front of MotoGP.
However, since switching from Desmosedici to YZR-M1s, the team have not enjoyed much success. In fact, in the space of 12 months, they went from MotoGP champions to rock bottom of the standings in 2025.

Pramac are ‘increasingly’ finding it difficult to see success from leaving Ducati for Yamaha
Jack Miller and Miguel Oliveira scored just 125 points between them last year as Pramac were last in the championship. The Yamaha M1 was desperately lacking performance by the end of the season, and things have not improved in 2026.
Now using a V4 engine, Miller, who is guaranteed to stay at Pramac in 2027, and rookie teammate Toprak Razgatlioglu have struggled to find raw speed from the package. They finished 17th and 18th at the Thailand Grand Prix, with Miller being 47 seconds behind.

Yamaha have made no progress for three months with the V4 after looking at Miller’s race simulation data from testing. Pramac had been expecting an exciting project when they left Ducati, but now, they may be having doubts.
A report from Motorsport Espana states that Pramac are ‘increasingly finding it difficult’ to see any success from the decision to join Yamaha from Ducati. The dramatic fall in the team’s results must certainly bring some regret over the switch.
The Tuscany-based team are not the only ones expressing some doubts. Fabio Quartararo has also criticised Pramac, as he expected more from the team when they joined forces with Yamaha.
