David Alonso and Daniel Holgado have been backed to secure MotoGP seats in 2027 by Alex Hofmann.
Although there has only been one round of the 2026 MotoGP season, the 2027 rider market has gone into overdrive with several riders reportedly signing deals for next season.
The big names of Marc Marquez, Francesco Bagnaia, Pedro Acosta, Fabio Quartararo, and Jorge Martin are all reportedly sorted for 2027. However, there are some riders who have not penned a new deal as of yet.
There has been speculation surrounding the likes of Jack Miller, Enea Bastianini, Alex Rins, and Brad Binder. As these four riders have struggled in recent years and may be moved on for a new crop of talent from Moto2.

Alex Hofmanm believes two MotoGP winners will be replaced
When discussing a predicted 2027 MotoGP grid on Servus TV, Alex Hofmann left out Enea Bastianini and Alex Rins.
The former MotoGP rider believes that the two race winners will not be on the grid in 2027, and will instead be replaced by current Moto2 stars.
He suggested it would likely be David Alonso and Daniel Holgado from the Aspar Moto2 squad who will step into MotoGP next season. The German placed Alonso in the Gresini squad alongside Fermin Aldeguer, and Holgado in Tech3 alongside Binder.
Hofmann said, “Enea, I think he’s going to be a refrigerator [magnet].”
Brugger questioned, “So he’s leaving MotoGP?”
Hofmann stated, “I’m afraid so.”
Brugger added, “Another refrigerator [magnet], I’m afraid for him [Rins].”
Hofmann said, “Yes, then we’ve already placed them well, because we still need a bit of space. Look here, David Alonso would be good here [Gresini]. Or here [Tech3], Daniel Holgado as Moto2 world champion. That would add a bit of spice; that would be a major change.”
Enea Bastianini teases a potential MotoGP future
Before the opening round of the 2026 season, Bastianini did tease the idea that he will remain on the MotoGP grid for 2027.
It was believed that Bastianini was in talks to sign with Aprilia to partner Marco Bezzecchi in 2027. However, it is now reported that Bagnaia will partner Bezzecchi at Aprilia on a four-year deal.
This saw Bastianini’s move fall through, but he remained confident as he said ‘I’ll make my choice soon, and I think it will be the right choice’.
The Italian has struggled since he left Ducati at the end of 2024, as he rode for Tech3 on the KTM RC16 in 2025, and only secured one podium.
