Alex Rins hopes Yamaha will pay more attention to other riders now Fabio Quartararo is joining Honda

Alex Rins has called for Yamaha to pay more attention to him and the Pramac riders, as he all but confirms that Fabio Quartararo will be leaving at the end of 2026.

It is only natural that Yamaha have focused primarily on Quartararo in recent years. After all, he did win them the title in 2021, their first since Jorge Lorenzo in 2015, and he was their only rider to finish in the top 10 in 2025.

But the Frenchman is increasingly frustrated with the Iwata outfit as they regress in performance. Yamaha have not delivered Quartararo a competitive bike, despite him constantly showing his incredible talent, with five pole positions in 2025.

In 2026, the team will roll out the V4, but their issues in pre-season testing and clear lack of pace have driven their star rider to the breaking point.

Rumours are suggesting that Quartararo will join Honda in 2027, which marks the first big move on the MotoGP rider market. Rins seemed to confirm this to Motorsport Espana, and he sees this as an opportunity for Yamaha to focus more on his feedback.

Alex Rins tells Yamaha to focus more on their other riders amid Fabio Quartararo’s pending exit

Yamaha have lent mostly on Quartararo for technical feedback on the M1 and the V4 engine. Now that he is Honda-bound, his teammate hopes that he and Pramac riders Jack Miller and Toprak Razgatlioglu will have more input.

He understands why Yamaha have focused on Quartararo, given his title success in 2021, but he believes he can offer more to the team with his experience.

“Now that Fabio seems to be changing teams for next year, let’s see if they pay a little more attention to the rest of us,” he said.

Should Yamaha pay less attention to Fabio Quartararo’s feedback in 2026?

“I’m not saying that [Yamaha] hasn’t listened to me or Jack. But it’s true that they’re very focused on Fabio, even though he’s earned it with results.

“Yamaha has placed a lot of trust in Fabio, and last year’s bike was very much tailored to his preferences. The same has happened with the V4 engine. Fabio has been the one who has benefited from the upgrades as they’ve come in. They’ve always gone first for him and then for the others.

“I try to be as clear as possible in my explanations. It’s true that we’re lacking a lot of top speed, but first we have to try to improve traction, cornering, and get the bike to turn. If that doesn’t happen, it doesn’t matter if we have 50 more horsepower; we won’t be able to go fast.”

Fabio Quartararo’s technical feedback at Yamaha has been called into question

While there is no questioning Quartararo’s talent, his technical feedback has left something to be desired at Yamaha.

Quartararo ‘twisted’ the DNA of the M1 with his constant complaints in 2025. He wanted the bike more tailored to his riding style, but in doing so, it steered Yamaha in a direction that they were not comfortable with.

The Frenchman is known to be highly emotional in the garage and on track when things are not going his way. That was seen clearly during the Buriram test, where he was seen giving his bike the middle finger.

Quartararo’s anger did not sit well with Yamaha as they try to solve the issues with the V4. He may already be off for 2027, but the team cannot afford to create a toxic environment when they are already so far behind.
