With an announcement expected to arrive sooner rather than later regarding Pedro Acosta joining Ducati, Francesco Bagnaia has reportedly signed a three-year deal with Aprilia.

Francesco Bagnaia has been a Ducati rider for the entire time he has competed in MotoGP and has secured two World Championships for the Italian manufacturer.

The Italian started his Ducati journey in 2019 when he joined Pramac, and later moved to the factory team in 2021, before claiming his two titles in 2022 and 2023.

After a difficult 2025 season, Bagnaia and Ducati’s relationship was tested as his new teammate, Marc Marquez dominated the series, and Pedro Acosta is now expected to replace Bagnaia.

However, the Italian is reportedly going to join a rival European manufacturer on a long-term deal.

Francesco Bagnaia finalising a three-year deal to join Aprilia

According to a report from Motosprint, Bagnaia and Aprilia are finalising a three-year deal that will see him enter the factory Aprilia garage in 2027.

The agreement comes amid rumours that Bagnaia had two offers on the table for next season, as it had previously been reported that Yamaha were in the lead to secure Bagnaia’s signature.

A switch to the Aprilia RS-GP would be a new adventure for Bagnaia as he would have to learn the ever-improving Aprilia during the new regulations that will enter the sport in 2027.

Bagnaia would also enter a more welcoming environment with Aprilia as he would replace Jorge Martin, and join his long-time friend and fellow VR46 Academy member, Marco Bezzecchi.

Francesco Bagnaia has been offered £2.6m by Aprilia

It has been previously reported that Aprilia were able to offer Bagnaia a figure of £2.6m after Jorge Martin’s departure freed up £3m.

The Italian rider had already turned down an original offer from Aprilia, as he wanted to sign with a Japanese manufacturer.

With Honda wanting a younger rider to partner Fabio Quartararo, this ruled Bagnaia out, and put Yamaha in the lead in their pursuit for the two-time Champion.

However, the newly proposed offer has reportedly done the job and has put Aprilia back in pole position to secure the services of Bagnaia for the 2027 season.
