Aprilia may look to Trackhouse Racing for their second factory rider for the 2027 MotoGP Championship.

Ahead of the Sepang Test, Aprilia confirmed one of their factory riders, Marco Bezzecchi, signed a two-year extension for the 2027 and 2028 seasons.

However, it does appear that a new name will enter the garage next year as Jorge Martin is reportedly set to join Yamaha after a difficult 2025 season with the Italian manufacturer.

Although it has already been suggested that Aprilia may be able to talk Francesco Bagnaia into joining them in 2027, they also have the option to promote from within their own ranks.

For the 2026 season, the Aprilia satellite squad, Trackhouse Racing, have retained Raul Fernandez and Ai Ogura, who could become options for the 2027 factory Aprilia ride.

Raul Fernandez may receive a promotion for the 2027 MotoGP season

Trackhouse Racing are entering their third year as the satellite Aprilia squad in MotoGP, and got their first win with the manufacturer in 2025.

Fernandez was the rider who took the team’s first victory as he dominated the Australian Grand Prix at the latter end of the season, as well as claiming a second place at Valencia and two Sprint podiums in Indonesia and Australia.

The Spaniard’s strong form did not end at the conclusion of the 2025 season, as he was back on the pace at the start of the 2026 season. Fernandez found himself in seventh place on the timesheets at the end of the Sepang MotoGP Test.

It has now been suggested by Speedweek.com that if the 25-year-old can start the 2026 season in the same form that he ended the 2025 season, he could catapult himself into contention for a spot with the Noale factory.

Trackhouse could continue to promote youth into MotoGP

The satellite Aprilia squad, Trackhouse Racing, have a young rider line-up for the 2026 season with Fernandez and Ogura.

In the past, the team opted to have an experienced rider in their ranks as they signed Miguel Oliveira for 2024. However, the partnership did not work out and the American-based team have not looked at experienced riders since.

But during the 2025 MotoGP season, Trackhouse allowed the then Moto2 World Championship leader, Manuel Gonzalez, to test the Aprilia RS-GP, a move that Davide Brivio would not have made if he was not interested in the services of Gonzalez in the future.

The Spaniard lost out on the Moto2 title in 2025 and has remained in the series for 2026 to try and claim the crown. It remains possible that Gonzalez could secure a MotoGP seat for 2027 with Trackhouse Racing if he starts 2026 on strong form.
