KTM have become the latest factory outfit to unveil their new bike for the upcoming MotoGP campaign and during the event, their star rider, Pedro Acosta, was asked about his future at the Austrian constructor.
Pedro Acosta is arguably the most promising talent currently on the MotoGP grid, and his services aren’t short of suitors as the premier class rider market for 2027 continues to heat up.
The young Spaniard has been linked with most of the teams in the paddock, but the rumours linking him with a move to Borgo Panigale seem to be the strongest.
It has been suggested that Acosta has already signed with Ducati, but official confirmation is yet to be received as the Italian constructor continues to throw curveballs regarding their 2027 line-up.
With Marquez also looking likely to re-sign for the factory Ducati outfit, the two highly ambitious riders could prove to be a ‘match made in heaven’, according to Aprilia boss Massimo Rivola.

What do you think of KTM’s bike for the 2026 MotoGP season?
Pedro Acosta says ‘I have enough problems’ at KTM when asked about links to Ducati
During an interview with select media, including Motosan, at KTM’s 2026 MotoGP season launch event, Acosta was, of course, asked whether or not this would be his final season in orange.
The 21-year-old gave a blunt verdict on the matter as he replied, “At the moment, I have enough problems trying to see how things will go in Malaysia.
“We are in 2026, I want to get good results, as I was doing at the end of 2025. Today is not the day to talk about that; we are at the KTM presentation.
“We have to focus on 2026, and then we’ll see about 2027, which will be a question mark for everyone.”
The young Murcian also gave his theory on how the MotoGP rider market will shape up, adding, “I think those who are happy where they are will stay, and those who aren’t will move on.
“With such a big question mark, as we don’t know what will happen in 2027, people who are comfortable won’t take any risks because, at least, they are comfortable with the people they are with.”
It emerged last week that his desire for a move away from KTM isn’t just for financial gains. Acosta is reportedly ‘willing to accept’ whatever Ducati offer him for a chance to ride atop the Italian constructor’s championship-winning machinery.
Is Pedro Acosta joining Ducati inevitable?
Luigi Dall’Igna has already said that he would want to sign Pedro Acosta if Ducati could field three bikes
In an interview with Luigi Dall’Igna during Ducati’s launch event, the team chief was asked about who his dream signing would be if it were at all possible for the Borgo Panigale-based factory team to field three bikes.
Dall’Igna named Acosta as his pick, sending the already heaving rumour mill into overdrive. It’s clear that Ducati are an attractive option for the 21-year-old, but he is just as much of a big signing for them as vice-versa.
It later emerged that Dall’Igna is keen to secure Acosta’s signature sooner rather than later, to avoid a devastating scenario that would see the Spaniard sign for one of Ducati’s rivals on the grid.
It would be an incredible coup for Borgo Panigale to bring Acosta in, given the potential he has to become one of the best premier class riders in recent years.
With Marquez only getting older, it would be a show of intent for Ducati to put their faith in another young Spaniard to lead them in the future.
