Marc Marquez’s old Honda ally says he has become ‘invincible’, ‘he will win whatever he wants’

There has been a definite change in Marc Marquez’s approach to racing over the last few seasons since joining Ducati.

Now that he’s on a more predictable bike, he doesn’t have to take so many risks. Riding comes more naturally to him again. It’s why he dominated MotoGP in 2025.

Unfortunately, Marquez has a serious injury to recover from before he can be classed as ready for the new season.

But Ducati saw plenty from him this year to suggest that even when he’s not 100% fit or confident, he can still win for them.

Ducati’s only ‘leverage’ over Marquez concerns media days, when it comes to discussing a new contract. That scenario may not be far away from unfolding.

Santi Hernandez thinks it’s ‘wrong to speculate’ on Marquez amid rumours of a potential Honda return one day. He barely left them only two years ago.

Carlos Linan thinks Marc Marquez has become ‘invincible’ since joining Ducati

Davide Tardozzi realised Marquez is a ‘phenomenon’ since he started working with him over the last 12 months.

The Italian manager now understands how he operates both behind the scenes and on track. Without him, winning all the titles they did in 2025 might have been close to impossible.

Speaking to Marca, Marquez’s ex-chief mechanic, Carlos Linan, shared why he believes that the Spaniard is now ‘invincible’.

“I think, it gives me the feeling, that in Ducati they did not imagine what was going there, because when you have not worked with it,” he said. “From the outside, yes, you see that it is very good, but it is difficult to get the idea.

“But when they have had him inside, they have realized what they have. We imagined what was going to happen, because, at this moment, with the fastest bike and him who is extraordinarily faster than anyone else, well, what we imagined would happen has happened.

“He has won this World Championship, and I think he will win whatever he wants, because now he is unattainable. It’s at a level… After overcoming everything he has overcome, if he is already strong in itself, now he is invincible, he will have morale through the clouds, I imagine.”

Why Marc Marquez is such a dangerous opponent at Ducati

Ducati already have one issue with MotoGP’s 2027 regulations, which doesn’t bode too well for their future discussions.

Marquez wants a bike which can win. It’s his only real motivation to race nowadays. He isn’t particularly interested in money or being in the midfield.

He knows that his very best years may already be behind him, and that means that he wants to take advantage of what he has left.

He enters 2026 slightly on the back foot, but once he gets a bit of time on the new GP26 frame, it shouldn’t take him too long to feel like he’s at home again and rebuild his confidence.
