Toprak Razgatlioglu secured his third world title in World Superbikes before he made the move to MotoGP, and was involved in an incident with Nicolo Bulega during the final race weekend that could have had massive implications in the title fight.
Heading into the final round of the 2025 WSBK championship, Toprak Razgatlioglu held a fairly healthy lead over Nicolo Bulega.
The Turkish rider needed just a couple of respectable finishes in the points to be able to claim his second successive title, and third overall, in the category.
However, things took a turn for the worse in the second race of the weekend. Both riders tangled, and the BMW star was forced to retire from the race as a result.
Bulega was met with a wave of abuse from fans who were furious at Razgatlioglu not being able to add any points to his championship tally.
Fortunately, Razgatlioglu was able to clinch the title in the final race of the weekend and season, with a third-place finish being more than enough to keep a hold of the advantage.
Should MotoGP riders be afraid of Toprak Razgatlioglu?

Toprak Razgatlioglu addresses the abuse that Nicolo Bulega received after the WSBK championship showdown
During an interview with The Race, shown during their MotoGP podcast, Razgatlioglu addressed the abuse that the Ducati star had received for his part in the incident.
The 29-year-old said, “Everyone gets a bit crazy normally, but the biggest problem was what happened after the crash. If the FIM only gives one long-lap penalty, it’s not enough.
“I think that makes everyone even more angry. If the FIM gave a proper penalty, like two long-lap penalties, and Bulega still won, which he probably would have because he was very fast in the race, then my fans would feel more relaxed.
“But instead, things went really crazy afterwards. And the problem in Turkey is that when a Turkish rider goes down or has a problem, everyone comes together and goes crazy.
“Turkish people are always like this, doing a little bit too much. But I’ve also spoken with Bulega, and I said, ‘It’s okay, this is racing.’ He made a mistake, which is also not good for him.
“It was very dangerous for me, if my bike had developed a technical problem in that moment, he could have won the championship because of it.”

Toprak Razgatlioglu and Nicolo Bulega have a lot of respect for each other’s race craft
The two title rivals in the 2025 WSBK season share a deep respect for each other’s race craft from the two years that they spent fighting for a championship.
So much so that Bulega has now changed his future career plans as he eyes a move to MotoGP in 2027.
The Italian rider previously noted that he wanted to become a ‘top rider’ in the production motorcycle racing category before looking at a possible switch, but now his rival is making the move, he also wants to.
Razgatlioglu backs Bulega to join him in MotoGP for the 2027 season, telling Ducati that they ‘need’ to move him over from WSBK in the future.
We could very well see a reenactment of the 2025 WSBK title fight in MotoGP if the move does come to fruition.
