Marc Marquez looked almost unstoppable in the 2025 MotoGP season as he comfortably clinched his ninth Grand Prix title.

The Ant of Cervera adapted seamlessly to the factory Ducati team and the GP25. While Francesco Bagnaia and Fabio Di Giannantonio found difficulty extracting performance on the bike, Marquez faced no problems.

Everyone would have expected the Spaniard to fight for the title in 2025, but even Ducati chief Luigi Dall’Igna did not imagine Marquez having the season he did. With 11 Grand Prix wins and 14 Sprint victories, he wrapped up the title at Motegi, five races from season’s end.

His rivals rarely got close to challenging him, with the 32-year-old winning 15 consecutive races from Aragon to Barcelona. Marquez controlled the front end like ‘no one else’ and used it to his advantage to claim his seventh MotoGP championship.

Marquez has now equalled Valentino Rossi’s record and is the oldest premier class champion. It was an incredible season, but it could have been even better.

MotoGP fans agree that injuries are Marc Marquez’s ‘biggest weakness’ after his 2025 title win

The Ducati rider missed the final four rounds of the season after a crash with Marco Bezzecchi in Indonesia. Suffering fractures to his right shoulder, Marquez decided to step back for the remainder of 2025, with Michelle Pirro and Nicolo Bulega replacing him.

Marquez has learned from past experiences not to rush back from a setback, having struggled immensely following his devastating crash at Jerez in 2020. Injuries have plagued his career, and fans all agree that it is his biggest downfall.

Marc Marquez is pushing to return to MotoGP by pre-season testing

The Ant of Cervera knew not to try and race again in 2025, instead focusing on his rehabilitation. Marquez hopes to return by pre-season testing in 2026, but he did not guarantee that he would be there.

The important thing for the Spaniard, and for Ducati, is that he returns to action fully fit and ready for his title defence. But the urge to ride might be taking over.

Marc Marquez cancels his holidays to make sure he returrns for testing in 2026

“This is what it is this year. If I want to be ready on time, there are no holidays.”

Marc Marquez on his recovery plans ahead of the 2026 season

Marquez has cancelled his ‘holidays’ over the winter, highlighting his commitment to his recovery. He is desperate to return as soon as possible and start 2026 where he left off in 2025.

He will be facing strong competition next season. Marco Bezzecchi refuses to believe that Marquez is ‘invincible’ despite his dominance in 2025, as he sees no point in turning up to races if he does not think he can beat him – the Aprilia rider made serious progress in the Spaniard’s absence.
