Marco Bezzecchi was one of the surprise standout performers of the 2025 MotoGP season for Aprilia.

For someone in their debut season at a factory team, he was really impressive, particularly when a lot of the workload was placed on his shoulders.

When teammate Jorge Martin was ruled out, it could’ve been a disaster at the start of the campaign, but Bezzecchi stepped up admirably.

Aprilia can now be confident that they have found their man for the future, and should make a concerted effort to make sure he doesn’t reach the MotoGP rider market.

MotoGP fans think Bezzecchi is Marc Marquez’s biggest threat after finding a way to win multiple races in 2025.

However, over the winter, Bezzecchi will ‘have to’ work harder if he wants to beat one of the best ever to grace the tarmac. He’ll know that.

Marco Bezzecchi could make perfect move to re-sign with Aprilia for 2027 ‘pretty quickly’

Bezzecchi and Aprilia are ready to challenge for a title because their bike is about as well-rounded as it has ever been.

In the second half of the season, they developed the RS-GP so well, turning it from a contender at high-speed circuits to a contender almost everywhere.

It’s something that Ducati will need to be wary of and make sure that they can match over the next few months before the start of the new regulations.

Speaking on The Race Podcast, Simon Patterson shared how he thinks Bezzecchi will be tied to an extension ‘pretty quickly’, and it’s the perfect move for him. Nowhere else offers a better situation.

“I don’t think Bezzecchi is really a free agent. I think Bezzecchi is going to sign an Aprilia extension pretty quickly. If Pecco Bagnaia is offered a Ducati extension, he takes it right away.”

How Marco Bezzecchi proved that he’s a capable title contender in 2025

In the first six races of 2025, Bezzecchi’s best result was sixth, achieved twice. Then, he kicked into some real form at the British Grand Prix.

After that, he wouldn’t finish outside the top eight more than once before the end of the season, winning the last two rounds.

Granted, Marquez was ruled out with an injury in Indonesia, which could end up affecting his preparation for 2026.

But Ducati are going to be able to throw counter-punches, and the GP26 should be a better bike than its predecessor. Everyone is going to need to step their game up.
